This is what is needed to stop the whitewashing of January 6th, and if anything can stop it, it would be “must-see TV” with evidence that Rep. Schiff has previously said, “will blow the roof off the Capitol.” It will be Monday Night football except it is not a game, it is about the future of democracy in the United States. The House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol is expected to stage six public hearings in June on how Donald Trump and some allies broke the law as they sought to overturn the 2020 election results, according to sources familiar with the inquiry.

According to a draft schedule reviewed by the Guardian, the select committee intends to hold six hearings, with the first and last in prime time, where its lawyers will run through how Trump’s schemes took shape before the election and culminated with the Capitol attack.

The select committee appears to be planning for the hearings to be extensive affairs. The prime time hearings are currently scheduled to last between 1.5 and 2 hours and the morning hearings between 2 and 2.5 hours.

It is not hyperbole to say that this truly might be the only way to ensure that 2024 is run like a regular United States election, which we believe is already unlikely, highly unlikely, and the country will be worse off – no matter who wins, due to the MAGA fury (if they lose) and revenge if they win. It is easy to see dangerous violence and civil liberties slipping away.

But if one thing can wall off an attack on democracy, it would be unveiling horrific evidence as to what’s already happened to our democracy and also projected into the future. Additionally, it is the only possible way that the DOJ actually addresses the plot to overthrow the government. Right now, they are only doing Trump taking classified files, quite possibly traitorously already.

More needs to be done. This is the best path.
