SNL’s Cold Open Goes Back to the ‘Moral Clarity’ of the 13th Century to Mock Alito’s Abortion Opinion

The original tweet in which the video below covers says the 13th Century. We see nothing to indicate that it’s the 13th Century (Perhaps the Magna Carta is being referenced regarding the new law at the beginning). Regardless, the open is more illuminating than it is hilarious. No one is in the mood for a belly laugh anyway.

But what is at least as interesting is the tweet war below the actual cold open. It sure seems to shed light on the problem. The back and forth seems to emphasize the problem in unique ways but it’s always based on the wrong premise.

First, do not allow the pro-life movement to get away with referencing the embryo-fetus as a “baby.” A baby is born, alive, and independent of its mother for that life. Abortion is not about “killing babies.

Second, much more obviously, is that – for some reason, men believe they have every bit as much right to speak to this issue as women and have their voice be every bit as legitimate. We would like that to stop. Theoretically, a woman can have one baby a year. Theoretically, a man can impregnate 365 women in a year, or if we’re really going to hammer home the point, 730 depending on his schedule, and – in modern America, not really suffer any consequences or responsibility. Child support? Pffft. It seems there is a bit of inequality in terms of who is more impacted by the issue.

Regardless, SNL’s cold open:

Again, 13th Century, 18th Century, it really doesn’t matter. One produced the Magna Carta, one the Declaration of Independence. The back and forth does:

“Child” – and we see them employ it. Highly effective to low information voters.

It effectively ends it for girls/women in some states and allows the GOP to outlaw it across the country, which they’re already talking about doing.

And much of the U.S. is good enough for a man, probably not poor, and doesn’t realize that an unsafe abortion WILL occur in that state.

70% of abortions are not “done” by black women, and to the extent there are more black abortions, see again poverty.

“Bruce.”

You see the point, please click on any of the tweets and you’ll be taken right to the thread, it’s highly informative.
