Gotta hand it to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. She is some kind of feisty, let me tell you. And she doesn’t care who knows it or who likes it. This is exactly what she said on Twitter Tuesday morning after some folks were upset over her remarks over the weekend about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

The fun began when Lightfoot participated in a march during the city’s Pride parade on Sunday, Queerty reports. She gave a fiery speech about the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and centered her remarks around Thomas’s threat (because that’s really what it is, folks) that federal protections for contraception, same-sex relationships, and same-sex marriage may be next on the chopping block.

“We will not live in a world, not in my city, where our rights are taken from us or rolled back,” Lightfoot said, then fired off “F*ck Clarence Thomas!”

And of course, Fox News got their feelings all hurted up by this and pulled their usual shenanigans by dragging out a pro-Trump civil rights attorney to exaggerate everything Lightfoot said.

“This is very, very upsetting,” said the aforementioned attorney, Leo Terrell. “The profanity she used at Clarence Thomas justifies why the Supreme Court Justices need protection 24/7. You know what she did? She sent a coded message by using the F-word.”

Welp, you know, Queerty’s Graham Gremore, suggested that perhaps Thomas created a bigger problem for himself and his judicial colleagues by voting to expand gun rights. You see, last week the court overturned a New York law that restricted gun-friendly folks from carrying concealed guns in public. I mean, perhaps Thomas & co. should be worrying more about that than an understandably angry mayor from Chicago.

Maybe he forgot about that supermarket shooting in Buffalo, New York. You know, that one that occurred just last month where 10 people died? Where all of those killed were Black?

Nah. He wouldn’t forget something like that, would he?

So I’m glad people like Lightfoot are speaking up. We should rattle the judicial doors of this court nonstop until the conservative justices can no longer stand it.

Tuesday, Lightfoot took to Twitter again to let it be known that if Terrell, Thomas, and any other right-wingers are offended by her remarks they can just stick it where the sun don’t shine.

Last week in an interview with Queerty, attorney Roberta Kaplan, who represented Edie Windsor in United States v. Windsor effectively convinced the SCOTUS to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is now telling LGBTQ people and their allies to stick to their proverbial guns.

“I obviously understand fear and depression, but I would encourage people to overcome that,” she said. “One thing I could say that could help to buck people up is the fact that LGBTQ rights in our country evolved and developed at a faster pace than any other minority group in recent history.”

Kaplan also emphasized the importance of getting out the vote.

“The number one thing that LGBTQ Americans have to do is vote and make sure that every single person who knows and loves them votes for candidates who believe in our Constitution, who believe in equal protection, and who believe in the equal dignity of all Americans, regardless of who they love, the color of their skin, or who they marry.”

We must work as hard as we can to remove extremist right-wing Christian Republicans from office. Because if we don’t we will keep losing the fundamental rights each and every American deserves.
