George Conway Says Trump Could Be Charged with Witness Tampering Over Yesterday’s Speech

Witness tampering is one very sharp-edged charge. If your freedom or fortune is on the line and someone you know well will play an important role in official proceedings, it goes against every human instinct to not “talk about it” with the person. And then, bam. You just had a witness tampering charge added to your troubles.

Donald Trump is particularly susceptible to this problem because his entire persona springs from being the bully, the guy that makes threats. There is currently a hearing before Congress and charges that could be brought about from them, and yet Trump is out flapping his lips and, according to George Conway, perhaps witness tampering.

During a morning interview on MSNBC, Conway said:

Someone should tell him that he has the right to remain silent and anything he says can and will be used against him in a court of law.

From a prosecutor’s standpoint, just let him keep talking. He is basically still admitting that he put pressure on Mike Pence to do something that was completely illegal. Frankly, although he is not president, if he was president he would be doing what he did a few years ago like dangling pardons to people.

Yeah, Trump was not a fan of George Conway.

The host popped in and noted that Trump talked about handing out pardons to all the insurrectionists if he was ever president again. Conway shot that down:

“He is not president. I do not think he’s ever going to get elected president again. It’s an attempt at witness tampering frankly, a little bit.

The host again noted that it’s like a promise to those who remain loyal, promising pardons for people who keep their mouths shut, and Conway had just had it:

“It kills me. He is doing this in front of the Faith and Freedom conference. The guy who paid $130,000 to Stormy Daniels and to end democracy is at the Faith and Freedom conference is getting a standing ovation. I cannot take it.”

Nor can we.
