Kellyanne Conway Tries to Get Back in Trump’s Good Graces by Suggesting He Was a Champion for Women When He Was President

The Kellyanne Conway/Donald Trump saga continues. You may remember that last week I wrote that Trump was less than thrilled about Conway’s mild criticism of him in her book Here’s The Deal, where he went so far as to suggest she “go back to her crazy husband.” Perhaps things are now back on more favorable terms, because now, according to The Independent, she’s back to singing his praises.

This time around, folks on social media are hammering Conway, Trump’s former campaign manager, and presidential advisor, for saying that the ex-president is “a great girlboss,” thereby suggesting he was a champion for women. Which, as virtually every progressive woman in the U.S. knows is completely untrue.

Conway sat down for an interview on CBS Mornings Tuesday and host Tony Doukopil decided to ask her about the part in her memoir where she writes that she told Trump he had lost the 2020 election.

Of course, last Thursday Trump responded to that by denouncing her in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, where he claimed “she never told me that,” and then said if she had done so he would have forced her to leave the White House so that “she could go back to her crazy husband,” conservative attorney George Conway, who has made it more than clear that he dislikes Trump.

“What do you say to the president contesting your version?” Doukopil asked.

But that led co-host Gayle King to elaborate: “No, what exactly he said, he wouldn’t have dealt with you any longer, she would have been wrong, and you can go back with your crazy husband. He didn’t just say you’re not telling the truth.”

Conway said she encouraged Trump to “make his case for winning the election” (per The Independent) before the states began certifying their electoral votes on December 14.

“You have every right to do what Al Gore did, what others have done, which is if you’re going to find evidence of malfeasance, the shenanigans of theft fraud, you have every right to do that with your legal team and present it,” Conway said she told Trump at the time. “And we all know what happened. They tried, they presented it. The election was certified Biden-Harris, but other people had another idea to blow past December 14 and look at January 6, as another alternative way.”

At that point, Doukopil asked, “Did you have to tell the president that he failed on November 3?”

“I did, and it broke my heart,” Conway said. She described him as “a great girlboss” who championed women, even though he very publicly verbally abused some pretty prominent women — including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Vice President Kamala Harris, and the squad (House legislators Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib.)

“I’ve always had a great relationship with president and I go on and on in the book of how protective he was of me. I wish he was till the president,” she said.

Some, like podcaster and film critic Scott Weinberg, had sharp criticisms of Conway’s commentary.

“Everyone who enables this pathetic monster’s book tour is a moron,” he tweeted. “How do I know she’s still gaslighting everyone? Because in the interview she cites her own ‘dignity, grace, and class,’ which is so absurd it’s surreal. She’s got the dignity, grace, and class of a dog’s poop.”

E. Jean Carroll, who has accused Conway’s former boss of rape, an allegation Trump has repeatedly denied, tweeted “Vlad the Impaler was a better girlboss.” That tweet has since been deleted

Attorney Richard Signorelli tweeted Conway “will now literally say anything to get back into [Trump’s] good graces.”

Yeah, I think Conway is using brown-nosing as an art form, hoping she’ll ingratiate herself with her old boss again.

Then there’s this tweet from Jeff Mayers:
