Peter Navarro Asking for Donations Because He Doesn’t ‘Want to Spend His Retirement Savings on Lawyers’
These Trump people, I swear they are a different breed.
Like, does Peter Navarro have any friends? Family? Family who cares about him? Longtime acquaintances? Is there no one in this man’s life who cares enough to tell him to shut his damn mouth?
And side note…it wouldn’t be his wife, now ex-wife, who divorced him while he was working for Trump. Their divorce became final just days before the insurrection in fact, on December 30, 2020! And Leslie Wynne Lebon — who filed for divorce from Navarro on Nov. 26, 2018 — is getting half of Navarro’s pension benefits and splitting several bank accounts. So good…glad she got out while she was able to get something.
Moving on.
Now, after blowing off subpoenas from the January 6 Select Committee and a federal grand jury, Donald Trump’s former trade adviser finds himself under indictment for contempt of Congress. At his initial appearance at the beginning of June, the economist and former college professor said he was going to defend himself because “I don’t want to spend my retirement savings on lawyers.”

Ouch.
Navarro then famously marched out of the courthouse and gave a crazy press conference alleging all types of prosecutorial misconduct and abuse by arresting authorities. He followed it up with appearances on Fox and Newsmax, where he spoke in detail about the case and claimed that he’d been treated worse than Al-Qaeda.

Appearing on a bunch of right-wing tv shows and talking about the case wasn’t the best idea for Navarro, as prosecutors quickly filed a motion for a protective order since they’re not about to hand over grand jury materials to a loudmouth Trumper who’s shown he’s very likely every to share them with anyone who will listen.
So, Navarro is going to be fighting this for a while and since he doesn’t want to spend HIS OWN MONEY, he wants Trump supporters to hand over theirs. What a grifter. It’s truly remarkable, how little shame these people have. He doesn’t want to use his own money, he wants people to donate theirs. Such a Republican, the party of personal responsibility and bootstraps!
Like he said before, he doesn’t want to spend any of his retirement savings, so he needs other people to pay his lawyer. pic.twitter.com/1zHmNwYGP2

As you’d imagine, it didn’t go over very well on Twitter:
Like a true Republican. Only rich Republicans should be on the receiving end of charitable contributions.

You should probably not break the law if you can’t afford the resulting legal proceedings. Just a thought.

Why dip into my retirement fund when I can ask you to dip into yours….

Navarro is worth north of $5,000,000.
It’s always a grift.

Or he simply could go tell the truth about how Trump & cronies tried to steal a presidential election!
Oh, & no attorney needed when you tell the truth!
Just more ways for the R’s to fleece $$$ from their ignorant base!— Chris Burke (@ChrisBu29550966) June 24, 2022

Poor little man without an ounce of self reflection to take responsibility for supporting an insurrection.
Use your retirement funds, stop begging for money
