The defense team of Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio is trying to play the sympathy card, according to a new court filing. Tarrio, according to the filing, is “locked up, broke, [and] jobless,” and wants to tell “his side of the January 6 story,” Raw Story reports.

But here’s the thing, when you’re indicted on charges of seditious conspiracy, people tend to be unsympathetic. Especially when you become involved in something where people die because you and your kind try to force your will on everyone else.

All of that means you’re not deserving sympathy. Simple as that. Nevertheless, his defense team is trotting out the “oh poor me” defense.

Tarrio was denied bail last month and was hit with these charges because of his role in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. His cohorts in the paramilitary group the Oath Keepers were smacked with similar charges.

The Proud Boys call themselves a “Western Chauvinist” group and they have ties to state and local GOP organizers, as well as white supremacist groups. They were among the ringleaders of the failed insurrection and planned to invade the Capitol complex, and those plans included using a “covert sleeper” to set up appointments, block traffic, and keep police out. They fully believed if they could disrupt Congress, they could prevent the certification of President Joe Biden’s electoral win.

And because I didn’t know what the heck a “covert sleeper” is, I decided to do my research and found this:

So if Tarrio is struggling, it’s only fitting. He spent time communicating with one unnamed person about a plan to occupy “crucial buildings” in D.C. This of course included House and Senate office buildings, using “as many people as possible” to “show our politicians We the People are in charge.” Tarrio told this unnamed individual that he was “not playing games,” the indictment alleged.

That indictment also provides new information about what Tarrio was up to on Jan. 6 by sharing additional messages with another unnamed individual that evening.

“Brother. You know we made this happen… I’m so proud of my country today,” the unnamed person said.

“I know,” was Tarrio’s reply.

The unnamed individual responds with “1776,” and an expletive, as a reference to the U.S. Revolution.

“The Winter Palace,” Tarrio responds. This is a reference to the Russian revolution, the indictment reports.

“Dude. Did we just influence history?” that person said, before Congress returned to certify the election results.

“Let’s first plays out,” Tarrio said.

Well for me, it “plays out” like this — I’m a descendant of Ethan Allen, who was a true American patriot that fought in the Revolutionary War that jerks like Tarrio love to refer to.  He worked alongside Benedict Arnold to capture the British fort Ticonderoga. No shots were even fired. In 1775 he was part of a poorly planned attack on the city of Montreal, Canada, which was controlled by the British at the time. He was, of course, captured, transported all the way across the Atlantic ocean to a cold, dank British prison, where he was held for two years and expected to be executed, History reports. The only reason he wasn’t executed is that the British government feared reprisals from the U.S. colonies.

So when cowards like Tarrio complain, I’m seriously offended. They know nothing of real suffering. I’m very proud of my family’s history and his whiny complaints are, quite frankly, an insult to those who came before us and really did fight for this country. Allen had one serious flaw — he did keep a small number of slaves (and no, I’m not proud of that part). But then Tarrio would probably like that.
