Utterly Shameful: Newsmax Host Taunts ‘Attractive Blonde’ Wounded Officer Who Testified at Hearing

One of the most stunning aspects of the MAGA movement is that not only was it always true that “the cruelty is the point,” it is that they are often cruel when there is absolutely no value in bringing something up and being cruel.

Take the case of the powerful testimony offered by officer Caroline Edwards from the Thursday night primetime hearing. As everyone who watched the hearing knows, Edwards was left alone to monitor a barricade that an unruly mob led by huge men pushed through. In her attempt to keep them back, she was knocked to the ground, hit her head, and lost consciousness. She eventually regained her consciousness but went right back to join the fight to keep protesters out.

Her testimony was powerful, a modern, sharp, articulate woman who took on MAGA troops in battle. Not to sound trivial, but she was the star of the show, meant to personalize January 6th, as it damn well should be.

And yet here is Greg Kelly, taunting her, being cruel, when it was utterly needless, while also lying and being typically sexist in finding it important to say that this injured warrior is very attractive:

“Okay, in other words, you fell. You had a fall. Gotcha. That’s a line-of-duty injury as well. A couple of hundred yards from you, Ashli Babbitt was being dragged backwards out of the Capitol as she was bleeding out, shot by one of your fellow officers, even though she was unarmed. Posed no threat to anyone. OK? But you bumped your head. Got it. Got it. I got it. Tear-gassed by your own guys, by the way, the police were using the tear gas.” – Newsmax host Greg Kelly.

He is counting on the fact that his supporters are both stupid and know nothing about January 6th. Yes, she had a fall as a crowd rushed over her, and because it’s a line of duty injury, that makes it okay? She didn’t “just” fall. She didn’t just “bump her head,” but she surely had a concussion, knocked unconscious. And Ashli Babbit? She’d been warned and warned and was still attacking, trying to get through a broken window in a door, with Pelosi and Pence just down the hall – there is a reason that a shot was fired.

Speaking of Ashli Babbit, perhaps if the Republicans were brave enough to investigate the entire matter, they might get the full story on Ashli Babbit. But that’s too dangerous.
