Hawley Gives Speech and Actually Says ‘I’m Not Gonna Run From You!’, Just a Day After Video Shows Him Running From MAGA Rioters

One of the most compelling images from last night’s House Select Committee hearing was the image of Josh Hawley, fist raised in solidarity with the people waiting to soon attack the Capitol. These people were not at the Elipse. They were there to attack the Capitol, did Hawley know?

The Committee noted that an officer said that it was easy for Hawley to bravely place his fist in the air when he was cordoned off from the crowds that were about to run over that barrier guarded by the officer.

Then, in what will go down as one of the most iconic moments in the Committee’s presentations, they flipped to video of a young Josh Hawley seen running for his life, scared as any other politician in the Capitol.

It is worth asking a question. The Committee could’ve picked just about any Senator or Congressman; they were all fleeing (as would anyone). Yet they picked Hawley. Josh Hawley, of course, was also the first Senator to announce that he would be objecting. Hawley went along with the lie. Hawley would be one of the Senators yelling at Pence to send the Electoral College certificates back to the states, which would then hold them for ten days, say they cannot figure it out, and not send them back. The election would’ve gone to the House, and Trump would’ve won.

That was the plan. And it’s worth asking yourself if the Committee was signaling something to Hawley by picking him out for special attention? Special humiliation? Were they saying, “And we know more…” Probably not? Maybe not. But it’s not impossible, either.

What is impossible is for a MAGA to have any integrity, and tonight, Josh Hawley said that he’s proud of January 6th and acted as if every MAGA should be. They shouldn’t be apologizing for January 6th. It is terrifying because this is how fascism begins. You normalize what had shocked the entire party when it happened. It was America’s first (because there might well be another) Reichstag fire.

Hawley is proud of it and then humiliates himself – evidently he didn’t watch last night’s hearing.

Yeah, except he was certainly running that day:

And so Twitter had a field day.
