Florida Pair Plead Guilty for Selling Ashley Biden’s Diary to Right-Wing Group — After Trying to Sell to Trump Campaign
Imagine the howling that would be going on from the conspiratorial Right if, out of the blue, there were charges that someone stole Ivanka Trump’s diary just prior to the election and was shopping it around to various left-wing websites. The word “trafficking” comes in with regard to the diary, and there would be an assumption that someone broke in somewhere to steal it, and that puts a bad guy in awfully close proximity to Ivanka, a security risk. The entire MAGA church would believe that Biden ordered it.
And yet that’s exactly what happened concerning Ashley Biden and her diary, and the Left is taking it in stride and not assuming that Trump ordered it.
Today, two men plead guilty to trafficking the diary for sale to right-wing outlets. We don’t know yet if the two were the ones who stole the diary, only that they had it in their possession. According to Politico:
Two Florida residents pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiring to trafficking in stolen goods for selling a diary and other personal effects of President Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley Biden, the Justice Department said.
The criminal charges are the first to emerge from a federal investigation into how, prior to the 2020 presidential election, the journal reached the conservative video outlet, Project Veritas. The group has said it paid for rights to the publish the diary, but never did so because it couldn’t authenticate it. Contents from the diary later emerged on a more obscure right-wing site.

Amazing that Project Veritas, which has been caught doctoring videos, would be concerned about authenticating it.
Last November, the FBI carried out search warrants at the home of the founder of Project Veritas, James O’Keefe, and two of his colleagues, in connection with the investigation. None of those individuals have been charged, but O’Keefe has denounced the raids as an attack on press freedom.
An attack on press freedom? First, Project Veritas is hardly a media outlet. Second, unlike documents such as the Pentagon Papers and such, this diary was clearly stolen, and thus, they would be in possession of stolen material. The Project’s folks are lucky that they haven’t been arrested.
Just imagine. Someone steals Ivanka’s diary right before the election. It would be enough for Trump to declare the election invalid, proof it was rigged, on and on…
This is a fascinating thread with more info:
In what will probably be the most significant legal news of the day, two people have agreed to plead guilty to stealing Ashley Biden’s diary and selling it to Project Veritas. https://t.co/CxzDXL2MX2

“Under the terms of their plea agreements, HARRIS and KURLANDER each agreed to forfeit $20,000, and KURLANDER agreed to cooperate with the Government.”

Interestingly, according to the complaint, they tried to sell the journal to the Trump campaign first. And someone there was smart enough to turn them down. https://t.co/qwDg9WfBw4 pic.twitter.com/chSCZYDBJR

The government has some incredibly incriminating texts. pic.twitter.com/FqYRMaXDyW

This text, and the whole thrust of the complaint, cuts against PV’s assertions that it was merely doing journalistic work. You can’t lawfully encourage people to go steal more things for you, particularly if you are paying them for the goods. https://t.co/Zho3BguVPi pic.twitter.com/EuKO7GH4XG
