Greedy and Clueless Rudy Giuliani Wanted Both a Pardon AND the Medal of Freedom
Boy, Rudy doesn’t ask for much, does he?
It is difficult to tell what is meant by a “General Pardon” since we usually pardon people for specific crimes that are already charged and verdicts rendered. If one wants just to take the plain language used and the lawless pattern of the Trump administration generally, using Trump’s dictatorial style, Rudy thought he deserved to “Get Out of Jail Free” card for the entirety of his life through January 6th. That would seem to belie that Rudy knew that he committed a few crimes in trying to “stop the steal.”
Oh, and the guy who worried about being prosecuted for all his crimes also wanted the Presidential Medal of Freedom:
An associate of Rudolph W. Giuliani, President Donald J. Trump’s personal lawyer, tried to pass a message to Mr. Trump asking him to grant Mr. Giuliani a “general pardon” and the Presidential Medal of Freedom just after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, according to a new book.

The associate, Maria Ryan, also pleaded for Mr. Giuliani to be paid for his services and sent a different note seeking tens of thousands of dollars for herself, according to the book, “Giuliani: The Rise and Tragic Fall of America’s Mayor,” by Andrew Kirtzman, who had covered Mr. Giuliani as a journalist.
The New York Times obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set to be released next month. Bernard B. Kerik, Mr. Giuliani’s close adviser and the New York City police commissioner for part of his time as mayor, stopped the letter from getting to Mr. Trump.
Yes, that sounds like the Rudy we know and despise.
The letter also sought a payment for Giuliani and the medal of freedom. Giuliani associate Bernie Kerik intercepted the letter before it got to Trump https://t.co/UxtEwXAbCQ
