REPORT: Trump Gave FBI Voluntary Tour of Mar-a-Lago Basement Two Month Ago — Against Attorney’s Advice
The presumption is there is an informant close to Trump, and that is likely a possibility. There could be one, or two, or three. There could be any number. After all, the heat is really on now, and everyone who ever worked for Trump knows that if he is charged, he is going to be looking for a fall guy. It is far better to get one’s story out beforehand than have it told by Trump.
On the other hand, Trump may be his own worst enemy. Trump is very used to committing his worst crimes in broad daylight. “Russia, if you’re listening” and the release of “the perfect call,” all that along with Trump’s incitement to riot, and one sees that Trump believes that if he does it publicly, it must be legal.
Hence the tour. It makes perfect sense that Trump would lead a tour of FBI agents through his basement just months ago to show them… well, that remains to be seen. To be sure, Trump likely didn’t show the FBI agents the specific “Top Secret, Special Access Only” files that he might have stored away, only that he had files and they were kept “very safe.” As we reported tonight, Trump believed it was important that he had the files definitely under lock and key so that nobody else could get them.
Now we hear that Trump gave that tour to FBI agents very much against his attorneys’ advice. One thing of which we can be certain. His attorneys had a reason to recommend that Trump not give the tour, namely, he was likely holding the files illegally and admitting to having them. Trump likely believed that so long as they were secure, he had every right to possess them. His attorneys knew better.

How nice of him! Again, this is totally on brand Trump. So long as he’s out in the open about it, it cannot be considered a crime, correct? It seems to have worked for him so far. Perhaps not as much of late.
