Trump Refused Plan to Get Vaccinated Alongside Clinton, Bush and Obama

Apparently, former President Donald Trump decided against the idea of receiving his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination alongside former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, according to a report from The Independent.

This was revealed by a new book by two former White House employees, which notes that Trump and then-first lady Melania Trump received the vaccination right before their time in the White House came to an end.

During this time period, there was a lot of back-and-forth between reporters and the dwindling White House press operation as to whether Trump would allow himself to be seen being vaccinated with the mRNA-based vaccine.

Biden had issues getting the jab on camera.

In a story by The Daily Mail, ex-Trump aides Brian and Teresa Morganstern discuss the covert talks about whether a bipartisan joint vaccination photo opportunity would take place in their new book Vignettes and Vino.

Apparently, a lot of thought was put into this and Brian Morganstern remembers Trump’s communications staff “brainstorming potential scenarios” for Trump to receive the vaccine in public thanks to all the press speculation over whether Trump would get the shot — or not.

“One of the ideas was to have the president invite the former presidents to the White House — or to some other site — to have all of them receive the vaccine together in a show of unity,” said Morganstern, who was the deputy press secretary and deputy communications for Trump.

The former president’s advisers hoped that showing him getting a shot could shore up public confidence, so Morganstern and another aide tried to convince Trump that appearing alongside Obama, Bush, and Clinton would be a good idea. But Brian notes that’s not how things worked out.

Even Mike Pence was willing to do the right thing.

Instead, Trump twisted his face in a way “that conveyed, shall we say, a healthy skepticism.”

“He said, ‘I’ll get the shot. Do they want me to get the shot? I’ll get the shot,” Morganstern writes, later noting that Trump declined to do so accompanied by his predecessors.

“Regarding an event with the former presidents, he said: ‘Nah, I’m a different kind of a guy, ya know?”

Yeah, a “different kind of a guy” who thought bleach and hydroxychloroquine could fight COVID. We all found out how “different” he was.
