No matter how crass you already believe Donald Trump is, apparently he’s even worse off-camera. We’ve all had a recent reminder of just how offensive he can be after his racist attack on Elaine Chao, the wife of House Minority Speaker Mitch McConnell. On Truth Social, Trump referred to his former Secretary of Transportation as “the China-loving wife, Coco Chao,” and that’s about as racist as it gets, Uproxx and Mediaite report.

But according to The View’s Alyssa Farah Griffin, Trump can be much worse behind the scenes.

Co-host Ana Navarro tore into Trump for being “a racist before he was president,” and Griffin voiced regret for joining his administration as White House Communications Director, saying she should have known better. Griffin is permanently occupying Meghan McCain’s old seat, and she noted she’d hope to see an improved Trump when she joined his administration. She wound up being disappointed.

Navarro, addressing viewers, said “what he said about Elaine Chao, who was born in Taiwan. let me remind Donald Trump, because obviously what he’s trying to do here is say those of us who are Americans born somewhere are not as American or not at the same level of Americans.”

Right then she had a few words for Trump enablers: Trump, she said, “was a racist before he was president,” Navarro said. “He was a racist as president, and he’s going to be a racist until the day he dies, and all those people who enabled it, all those people who defended it because they wanted to be near power, they own this too, because they voted, they supported, they worked for, they enabled, they fortify and emboldened a racist.”

Farah Griffin, ignoring Navarro’s baited comment pivoted to agree with her.

“I’m guilty as somebody who hoped to see the best in him, hoped he had a vision (if he did it was near-sighted), and he wasn’t as bad as the worst of what we saw,” she said.

Sometimes dreams and good intentions die hard and it wasn’t long before Farah Griffin realized he was an even bigger monster when the cameras quit rolling.

“But I’m here to tell you guys at home, like, he is worse than what you see. He is worse than when he tweets out — or truth outs — on social media. This is not what our country deserves,” she said. “We are too divided.”

At that point, she revealed she never voted for Trump.

“To be honest, I didn’t vote for him in 2016,” Farah Griffin said, citing his obvious put-down of Gold Star father Khizr Khan.

Farah Griffin is trying to be hopeful, but it’s difficult considering the political situation.

“I don’t think we can give up on the American presidency and who the commander-in-chief is for four years and say, everyone of good faith is going to lay everything down and let the crazies run the show,” she explained. “I could spend the rest of my life debating if that was the right choice, and honestly, I spend a lot time thinking about it, but I worry this man could be president again, and who are the people who are going to go in? What extremists are going to staff his next presidency if he wins?”

It’s not something to look forward to, now is it? One man and his minions have managed to turn the entire country upside down in just four years. That would almost be impressive if it weren’t so depressing.
