George Conway Says Trump Is in Major Legal Trouble, Will Have ‘The Meltdown to End All Meltdowns’ – ‘This is a Smoking Gun!’

It almost seems like Donald Trump’s legal problems continue to deepen on a daily basis, and now, conservative attorney George Conway has even more bad news for the former president. He’s now saying that a recent decision handed down by a federal judge “signals and confirms” that the former president has “extensive legal exposure” that indicates he allegedly defrauded the U.S., Mediaite reports.

The ruling, handed down Wednesday by federal Judge David Carter in an 18-page opinion, orders former Trump Department of Justice official John Eastman to turn over four emails to the January 6 committee because they “are sufficiently related to and in furtherance” of obstruction of justice.

Carter mentioned one email in particular, from Eastman, who notes that Trump had been informed that more than a few of the claims he made about the 2020 election being rigged were false. But that didn’t stop Trump from adding his signature to court documents corroborating these false claims.

“The emails show that President Trump knew that the specific numbers of voter fraud were wrong but continued to tout those numbers, both in court and to the public,” Judge Carter wrote. “The Court finds that these emails are sufficiently related to and in furtherance of a conspiracy to defraud the United States.”

Trump is currently the main subject of a probe by the Fulton County district attorney, who is investigating his efforts to persuade the Georgia Secretary of State to fabricate the number of votes that were necessary for him to win the state after he was declared the loser.

During an interview with Anderson Cooper on Wednesday, Conway said this shows that Carter’s ruling and Eastman’s emails mean that the former president is in serious legal trouble at the state level.

“What this is, is a smoking gun in Georgia because if you look at what the judge describes here of these emails is, they file a lawsuit, a state court lawsuit in early December, December 4, making various allegations about dead people voting, about felons voting, unregistered voters voting,” Conway told Cooper.

“And by the end of December, they’re aware that these allegations are false. And that’s the email that the judge votes here, one of the emails where Eastman says the president has since been made aware that some of the allegations have been inaccurate. And then they go and actually the lawyers go and have him file a federal lawsuit where Trump certifies under oath, verifies under oath, that these allegations were, in fact, true,” Conway added. “That’s perjury and that’s certainly evidence of federal crimes.”

Conway also said the Georgia investigation into Trump is “fairly well advanced.”

This led Cooper to ask if Trump has any options to prevent Eastman from giving the emails to the January 6 committee.

“No, not the emails,” Conway said. “These emails are going to the Jan. 6 committee and the Jan. 6 committee has been working with the Justice Department and with the Georgia prosecutors. This is going to be used against him, and it’s a devastating, as I said, a devastating piece of evidence.”

“He’s a desperate man,” Conway explained, and added that he thinks Trump may well take another stab at the presidency.

“He will run for president, in effect, for protection against these legal proceeding,” he said. “But there’s just gonna be too many of them. And I think we’re going to see the, you know, I think he might get the nomination, anyway. But I think we’re gonna see the meltdown to end all meltdowns of a public figure.”

This makes me think the Georgia attorney general’s investigation into Trump’s possible wrongdoings is moving along more swiftly than the Jan. 6 committee’s probe is. At any rate, I’m glad the heat is on.
