I’ll say one thing for Rudy Giuliani: He’s unintentionally provided us with a lot of comedy over the past five years, especially after his buddy Donald Trump added President before his name.

There’s that wild hair goop incident, that really embarrassing Borat 2 scene, accidentally giving press conferences in front of a landscaping company, and an appearance on Fox’s The Masked Singer that drew terrible ratings.

And while Trump and Giuliani have been friends for some time, Uproxx reports this sure looks like a one-sided friendship, since the former President refused to rescue him from potential financial ruin. Trump was also not above making fun of the disgraced New York City mayor while others were around, even at one point making sure everyone knew Rudy’s sh*t really stinks.

And as the Daily Beast will let you know, that last example comes from New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman’s new book Confidence Man, which is burning up Amazon’s best-seller list. Her book dishes delicious dirt, but the anecdote about Giuliani’s bathroom funk starts with Haberman’s retelling of the infamous Access Hollywood tape which had just been made public in 2016 during Trump’s presidential campaign. This was the tape that was supposed to end Trump’s presidential hopes, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Giuliani and others popped up on Sunday talk shows to run defense for Trump.

And it was during this time, while onboard one of Trump’s planes that Giuliani learned that humiliation may be the price he’d pay for being friends with Trump, especially in the run-up to the 2020 election. He’d used the bathroom and apparently left quite the noticeable stench behind. As aides and others were busy, Trump rather loudly complained about the odor, yelling, “Rudy! That’s f*cking disgusting!”

Trump never has been the subtle type and more than a few folks who are no longer part of his inner circle say he can be quite unpleasant in private. Uproxx surmises he may have been preparing Giuliani for the “horror that lay in wait during his re-election campaign four years later… .”

Well maybe. Considering all the legal problems Trump is having right now, and all the embarrassing things he did as president, I’m not sure Trump is capable of thinking that far ahead.
