GOP Hypocrisy
Meghan McCain Writes Such a Gross Tweet About John Fetterman She Has to Delete It
Maybe Meghan McCain doesn’t know irony when she sees it but she’s now on the receiving end of a proper slapping after criticizing Democrat John Fetterman for running for the Georgia Senate while still dealing with the aftereffects of a stroke. McCain joined the chorus of conservatives attacking Fetterman after an NBC News report detailed the need for closed captioning as he was interviewed by Dasha Burns. Fetterman suffered a stroke right before the Pennsylvania primaries. He’s kept people up-to-date about his recovery while he hits the campaign trails. He’s been very clear about the fact that he’s still dealing with auditory issues, but overall, he has no cognitive problems, Uproxx reports.
Like many people dealing with stroke-related issues, Fetterman trips over a word or two on occasion. NBC News reported on this and is being called out for the way it framed Fetterman’s situation — as a senate candidate needing basic accommodations for a disability. Conservatives, however, went bananas over Fetterman’s occasional speech problems and I guess Meghan just couldn’t resist joining in the attack.
“This is insane,” McCain wrote in a tweet that was subsequently deleted. “How can someone be a Senator without being able to speak or understand small talk?”
McCain’s tweet was definitely short-lived. She began trending on Twitter almost as soon as she wrote the tweet as people pointed out what a huge hypocrite she was being here. After all, McCain’s father, John McCain struggled with brain cancer, dying during his final year in office and Meghan certainly didn’t question whether his cancer should have prevented him from being in office. Instead, she lauded her father for his bravery.
Indeed, her father was brave for fighting this daily battle. But so is Fetterman. It can’t be easy dealing with the pitfalls of having a stroke while being criticized for doing so. Especially when some of that criticism comes from someone who is so self-righteous.

Twitter users responded swiftly and McCain deleted her tweet. But thanks to those who responded, the tweet remains for posterity.
It’s nice to see her get owned.
Meghan McCain's father had a brain glioblastoma for over a year while serving as a US Senator. pic.twitter.com/9gLpGbP6DK

Meghan McCain had the absolute fucking nerve to tweet this before she deleted it. Lincoln had Marfan Syndrome. FDR (arguably the greatest president ever) had Polio. JFK had Addison's disease. Her dad had brain cancer. Having auditory problems makes you unfit for office now? pic.twitter.com/MrBc6qg9lh

I remember your dad’s first speech on the Senate floor after coming back from surgery. Sounded a lot like this, he needed to read from a teleprompter. I remember thinking, I don’t agree with most of anything he stands for but he’s a badass. He would be ashamed of you

What is insane is Meghan McCain thinks a disability disqualifies Fetterman from serving, especially since her father served and he was considered disabled because of the torture he endured. So is Meghan telling hearing and vision-impaired citizens they can't run for Congress? pic.twitter.com/2YT0XSKTiZ

Meghan McCain is attacking Fetterman for using captions
Her father John McCain suffered from brain cancer for over a year as a Senator & died in office
He also arguably saved Obamacare
Today’s Republican Party doesn’t just have an empathy deficit
It’s missing a goddamn soul

I can’t believe Meghan McCain tweeted about John Fetterman. Does she forget her own father had disabilities?

Sorry, are you saying that you think auditory processing disorders or speech disorders in general are singularly disqualifying for elected office?
Fun fact, Meghan: disabled people exist and we’re just as qualified for office as anyone else.

Apparently, Meghan McCain has never heard of FDR. pic.twitter.com/NOAlFtfze5
