Ted Cruz Humiliates Himself Once Again By Falling for Fake Tweet Trying to ‘Own the Libs’ — Quickly Deletes in Shame

It almost seems as if Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) is incapable of being embarrassed. Even though he’s frequently proven wrong he just plows right on ahead falling for purposely incorrect information and then re-posting it online, The Independent reports. His latest gaffe involves tweeting a fake Atlantic magazine story about Muslim White supremacists that arguably sounds like something The Onion would concoct.

“The Left is beyond parody,” he posted on Twitter, sharing the story with headline The Evolution of White Supremacy. The story described how in “Dearborn Michigan, Muslim parents who oppose teaching pornography to children become the face of the far right.”

But as Mediaite reports, the article isn’t even real, and in a fact-check, Reuters found the supposed author doesn’t even work at The Atlantic.

Cruz subsequently removed his tweet.

“The image posted by Cruz is fake, not a real Atlantic article. (So: parody the senator is citing as evidence the left is beyond parody.), tweeted CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale, having a good laugh at Cruz’s expense.

Here is the full image of Cruz’s tweet:

As happens with most fake news stories, the one Cruz shared has a slight connection to a real current event.

Parents in Dearborn, Michigan, which is home to one of the largest Arab-American communities in the U.S., are protesting several books that are being used in public schools and these books touch on LGBTQ+ themes and other topics they consider inappropriate for teaching children. Schoolboard meetings held earlier this week have escalated into shouting matches and the district is reviewing several titles: Push by Sapphire; The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold; Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell; Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston; All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Dawson; and This Book Is Gay by Juno Dawson.

But as I mentioned earlier, Cruz is seemingly quite gullible, easily tricked by bad information online.

In September 2021, he tweet and then deleted an inaccurate post purported to show the Taliban hanging a man from a helicopter. For Cruz, this was evidence of “Joe Biden’s Afghanistan catastrophe.”

During that same year, he was roasted for mixing up the initials for Washington State (WA) and Western Australia in a post where he attacked COVID protocols.

“Blue state Dems are power-drunk authoritarian kill-joys,” he posted. “Washington State: NO DANCING ALLOWED!!! Any rational & free citizen: Piss off.”

Then there’s this year when he wrongly claimed authorities in Massachusetts had brought in the National Guard to “interdict” migrants Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) had sent to Martha’s Vineyard on a surprise charter flight. But that’s just not the case. The Guard was activated to assist in emergency shelter aid.

There was another brief kerfuffle in 2017 when Cruz’s Twitter account briefly liked an x-rated video. Cruz’s office later said that an aide had accidentally done this.

Well, oops!

As I said earlier, Cruz seems impervious to embarrassment or critical thinking. He’s unintentionally hilarious and this is rather sad when you consider that he’s a senator from Texas who carries at least some political weight.
