Trump Reveals the Real Reason That Lindsey Graham Kisses His Butt So Much

In the interim since former President Donald Trump has left office, he’s sat down for an interview with New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman on three separate occasions. As a result, Haberman has a new book that’s set to be released in early October, where she, of course, gives Trump a chance to do his favorite thing: Complaining.

The Atlantic posted excerpts of Haberman’s book Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America, and at one point Trump tells her about a bizarre exchange between himself and Republican Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas) and Lindsey Graham (South Carolina).

The two senators apparently convinced him not to endorse a challenger to Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.). That led Trump to endorse Sasse. Which Trump later regretted because Sasse voted to convict him during his second impeachment.

“Like a schmuck, I went along with it,” he said of his decision to back Sasse.

Then there was the time that Haberman interviewed the former president at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club. When she arrived, Graham was there, garbed in golf pants. Trump arrived for the interview, followed by Graham.

Graham, gesturing at Trump, said, “The greatest comeback in American history!”

Looking right at Haberman, Trump said, “You know why Lindsey kisses my a$$? So I’ll endorse his friends.”

At that, Haberman writes, Graham “laughed uproariously.”

One of the weird things about Graham is that he was a vocal opponent of Trump before he became president, and now he’s one of Trump’s most vocal supporters. Even to the point of catching considerable heat after saying there will be riots in the streets if Trump is prosecuted for taking classified documents to Mar-a-Lago.

This is peculiar for a guy who once talked as if Joe Biden was the greatest thing since sliced bread — at one point saying in 2015 that Biden “was the nicest man person I think I’ve ever met in politics. He’s as good a man as God ever created.”

Now, however, he’s continually sniping at Biden, calling him “clueless” for opposing his (stupid) proposed 15-week federal limit on abortion.

It’s difficult to say if we’ll ever see Lindsey Graham grow a backbone again. But since he is still, unfortunately, in office it will be nice if that day ever comes.

Haberman’s book is set for release on Oct. 4.
