2024 Election

Trump’s Actually Considering Sarah Huckabee Sanders as a Potential 2024 Running Mate

Former President Donald Trump has been mulling over vice presidential choices if he takes another stab at running for president in 2024. So far, there are two people he’s considering: his former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Republican Senator Tim Scott (South Carolina).

That’s according to New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman, whose book Confidence Man is already tearing up Amazon’s bestseller list even though it was only released today (October 4). The book is a chronicle of Trump’s life in New York, his presidency, and his life after the presidency. Haberman interviewed Trump three times for this book, Insider reports.

Appearing on The View, Haberman dished out her thoughts on Trump’s 2024 political ambitions. She has been covering this man for decades, so the depths of her insights here are substantial.

“There’s a couple of people whose names have been mentioned. The one that actually gets mentioned the most by people close to him is Tim Scott from South Carolina, the senator, and then Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who’s possibly the next governor from Arkansas,” Haberman said after being asked who Trump’s vice presidential pick might be if he runs again.

In an interview on CBS Sunday, she said she believes Trump will announce a 2024 bid, but also added he may not see the whole thing through.

“I think that he needs the protections that running for president, he thinks, would afford him in combatting investigations that he calls a ‘witch hunt,'” Haberman said. “And it is the way he fundraises and makes money. So much of his identity now is about being a politician. So I expect that he will run. That doesn’t mean that even if he declares a candidacy he will stay in the whole time.”

Sanders was Trump’s second press secretary and served from 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, she served as an advisor on Trump’s 2016 campaign. She’s the current Republican nominee for Governor in Arkansas, the same office dear old dad, Mike Huckabee held from 1996 to 2007.

Tim Scott is the Senate’s only Black Republican and an avid Trump supporter. When he was interviewed earlier this year, he seemed eager to be Trump’s running mate.

“I think everybody wants to be on President Trump’s bandwagon, without any question,” he told Fox News in February. “One of the things I’ve said to the president is he gets to decide the future of our party and our country because he is still the loudest voice.”

Well, that’s for sure, but Scott’s comments are epic brown-nosing level 10 here.

As for Huckabee Sanders, I’m going to remind you that right after the deadly school shooting in Uvalde, Texas to justify banning abortion. As The Independent reports, she called the tragedy “a stark and humbling reminder of just how precious life is.”

That led me to respond:

“Of course, at least 19 equally precious children and two also precious adults lost their lives in the massacre but the fact that Sanders lumps abortion and this mass shooting together is kind of sickening and far too emblematic of Republican hypocrisy.”

I’m just reminding you here that this is what you’ll get if she becomes Vice President.

I do not know if President Joe Biden will run again, but I’m hoping voters will make intelligent, informed decisions. We don’t know if Haberman’s prediction that Trump will campaign only to drop out will happen and this is clearly not a time for people to remain ignorant.
