2024 Election

It Appears That ‘Cranky’ Donald Trump Will Make Daughter Tiffany’s Wedding All About Him

Florida is being roiled by two things simultaneously: Hurricane Nicole and Tiffany Trump’s wedding, with the latter, perhaps being more tempestuous than the former, thanks to Tiffany’s dad, Donald Trump.

He’s fuming right now (and frankly, it would be unusual if he weren’t fuming) because he’s still upset about the midterm elections, and all the attention being focused on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who may become his political rival during the 2024 presidential election, Uproxx reports. CNN is describing him as “cranky.” That brings to mind a toddler wearing a bib and having a tantrum and smacking the floor with his feet.

And since, Trump is not happy with Melania at the moment, it’s safe to assume that Tiffany’s wedding is going to be all about dad.

Sources who are familiar with Trump and his moods now say he raged at her after Dr. Mehmet Oz lost his bid for the U.S. Senate, and New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman made note of this on Twitter, while also adding more and more prominent Republicans are asking him to push back his announcement as to 2024 intentions.

In her years as first lady, it became abundantly clear that Melania Trump does not like the limelight. She is a highly private person and there’s not really any indication that she’ll change her habits if her husband hits the campaign trail. During an interview with CNN last May she offered up a coy “never say never” when asked if she’d feel okay about living in the White House again.

Marla Maples, Donald and Melania Trump

While Melania may be sitting on the fence here, it looks like other family members don’t wish to return to the White House. Ivanka and Tiffany Trump now have a good relationship, but it appears that Ivanka doesn’t want to return to Washington and her relationship with her father has changed over time since he left. Now that she lives in Miami, she doesn’t miss Washington. “Far from it,” said one of several people who spoke to CNN anonymously in order to preserve their personal and business-related relationship with the family.

Indeed, she’s definitely not intending to return to the White House as a senior adviser to her father.

“(Ivanka) would never go back to that life,” said one person who knows her well. “She knows it’s not something that would serve her or her family at this point.”

Another source told CNN Ivanka was “done” with Washington “since the day she left” and “that hasn’t changed.” Another person added that if Trump’s eldest daughter had shown any interest in politics, she’d have hit the campaign trail, supporting candidates running in the midterms. Instead, she made no public appearances, even though she was implored by people where races were tight, said another person.

And Ivanka’s husband, Jared Kushner, who was easily one of the most-connected and powerful sources in the Trump administration, won’t likely return to the White House either.

“Jared does not intend to join the campaign and get back involved,” said one source familiar with Kushner’s plans. That person said that Kushner has a good relationship with his father-in-law and that he “makes an effort to be with (Trump),” but added he’ll likely not do much more than offer advice on occasion.

“I’m sure (Jared will) be tested in numerous different ways, he’s his father-in-law, but that said, it would be a far cry from helping in the way he helped before,” that person said.

CNN notes “Kushner, who now runs a private equity firm, has “moved on,” over the last years, unlike Trump, who hasn’t.

While Trump is likely aware that Melania, Ivanka, and Jared aren’t particularly interested in doing this all over again, his eldest son, Don Jr., is likely to be the one to pick up the gauntlet.

One source who knows Don Jr. said “of course!” when asked if the younger Trump would stump for his dad if he runs again in 2024. Apparently unlike his stepmother, sister, and brother-in-law, he’s not reticent to hit the campaign trail for his dad.

“He’s going to be out there campaigning for his dad,” that person said. But Don Jr. isn’t likely to do the micro-managing thing like Jared and Ivanka did during their time in office.

“When (Don Jr.) has strong opinions about something involving his father, he does not have a problem saying them out loud,” that person said, adding that he has been quite vocal about insisting that his father should not announce his candidacy until after the midterms. “He just didn’t think it made sense.”

So, while Trump’s youngest daughter gets married, we have a family divided and yet together. It’s anyone’s guess how this will all play out during the next two years. It’s a tense time for Democrats and Republicans alike. Especially Republicans who are doing their level best to distance themselves from Trump.

All I know is I want to elect someone who best serves the needs of the American people; someone who doesn’t awaken the triplet demons of racism, homophobia, and misogyny. Something that Trump very definitely did when he was in office.

I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
