Lindsey Graham Actually Cries on Fox News for Herschel Walker Because His Life is SO HARD

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is known for acting theatrical on occasion, releasing the waterworks when he deems it necessary. He did it again Thursday evening on Fox News, weeping openly for Georgia GOP senatorial candidate Herschel Walker and “the conservative movement for people of color.”

But this time, he was upset and claiming, bizarrely, that the women claiming to have Walker’s children, and those who had abortions that he paid for are part of a left-wing conspiracy to make it impossible for people of color to become conservatives, according to LGBTQNation.

“They’re trying to destroy Herschel,” Graham asserted, “to deter young men and women of color from being Republicans. If they destroy Herschel, it will deter people from wanting to be a conservative Republican because you just have your life ruined.”

This is just plain weird. I really don’t know where to go with this one.

The fact is Walker and his Democratic opponent Raphael Warnock (who is also, ahem, a person of color) did not garner 50 percent of the vote respectively, and under Georgia law, this means they will compete in a runoff election. Part of the reason that this happened is that one third-party candidate, out gay Libertarian Chase Oliver, garnered some of the necessary votes.

But women have continued to come forward over the past several months to say they either have kids by Walker or have had abortions that he paid for or have been pressured by Walker to have an abortion.

Evangelical Christians and some within the echelons of the Republican Party unhesitatingly support Walker — which seems preposterous to me, especially since one of the women kept the receipts for her abortion and the $700 check sent her to pay for the abortion. But the Walker faithful claim these are just Democratic shenanigans to propel Warnock into office.

And then there’s poor, sadsack, Lindsey Graham, Walker’s most vocal defender. Who was begging folks to send Walker money to help him win the runoff and upend the balance of power in the Senate to favor Republicans.

“If Herschel wins, he’s gonna inspire people all over Georgia of color to become Republicans,” Graham said, weeping tears that were likely crocodilian in nature. “Herschel Walker is a nightmare for liberals. He’s an African-American conservative. They have belittled him. They have treated him like crap, his family.”

“Stand by Herschel tonight. If you can give, give.”

“The conservative movement for people of color is on the ballot in Georgia, Graham said. “We must help people like Herschel.”

Graham’s weepy performance led a CNN panel to discuss the senator’s defense of Walker.

“People like him always talk about-race baiting and identity politics,” said CNN”s Don Lemon, who is gay. “This is race-baiting. This is race-baiting in the worst form.”

“Oh my gosh, I thought he was going to start crying!”

And Walker’s family is not happy that he’s running for the Senate, apparently feeling he’s dragged them through the mud. His adult son Christian Walker, who is gay although he’s not crazy about that term, upbraided his father for the violence he and his mother were forced to live through.

“I know my mom and I would really appreciate if my father Herschel Walker stopped lying and making a mockery of us,” he wrote in October. “You’re not a ‘family man’ when you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over 6 times in 6 months running from your violence.”

“Every family member of Herschel Walker asked him not to run for office, because we all knew (some of) his past. Every single one. He decided to give us the middle finger and air out all of his dirty laundry in public, while simultaneously lying about it. I’m done.”

I’ll admit that I don’t understand why Graham is so weepy over this, or how he can support someone who’s clearly abused his family and flat-out lied about abortions.

I can’t picture Raphael Warnock lying about this, can you?
