Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls Gay Dem Lawmaker a Slur in Wake of LGBTQ Club Shooting

While people are still mourning the mass shooting at a Colorado Springs LGBTQ nightclub, notoriously anti-LGBTQ Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is furthering her agenda of hate, this time calling out a gay state lawmaker as a “groomer,” which most of us have come to know, thanks to right-wing hysteria, as someone who attempts to sexually abuse children.

In a Twitter post on Sunday, California State Sen. Scott Wiener (D) noted that the word “groomer” is “categorically an anti-LGBTQ hate word.” In all likelihood, Wiener was referring to the tragedy where five people lost their lives and at least 18 were injured, LGBTQNation reports.

“Grooming,” is a set of manipulative behaviors that are employed by sexual predators to gain access to potential victims and then intimidate them into accepting the abuse in order to minimize the risk of getting caught, according to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN).

During this past year, the word has been turned into an epithet that’s being used against LGBTQ people and their allies as part of the homophobic and transphobic stereotype that portrays LGBTQ people as a threat to children. And Greene, as hateful as ever, is caught up in the hysteria and uses the word to advance her hatefulness. She even used the word to attack Wiener on Twitter.

This led LGBTQNation to note:

“She [Greene] was referring to her bill that would ban gender-affirming care for minors, including reversible puberty blockers that have been shown to reduce lifelong suicide risk among transgender people who want them. Her bill would also make gender-affirming care more difficult for transgender adults to access and would ban medical schools from teaching about gender-affirming care.”

“The American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, American Psychological Association, and other major medical/mental health organizations all support gender-affirming care for pubescent youth when appropriate.”

I simply don’t know how this woman (and other Republicans who think like her) can sleep at night. To post something this ignorant and cruel right after a mass shooting, something that may well result in more hate is just disgusting. Despite the fact that Elon Musk seems to be doing whatever he can to screw up Twitter, folks are giving her a well-deserved clobbering.

I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more, can you?

I’m also including a few more relevant tweets from Scott Wiener, including one pretty good slam aimed at Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert (R):
