2024 Election

George Conway Reveals the One Reason Marjorie Taylor Greene Will NEVER Be Trump’s Running Mate

Yes, there are rumors flying all over the place about Marjorie Taylor Greene’s future in the Republican Party, but according to longtime conservative lawyer and husband of Kellyanne Conway, George Conway appears to believe the rumors are much ado about nothing.

If you follow politics, you probably know her name is being bandied about as Donald Trump’s potential vice presidential pick should he win the 2024 presidential election, Newsweek reports. Steve Bannon, a former White House advisor during Trump’s time in office, has taken that a step further, saying her ambition could even make her the Republican Party’s presidential hopeful.

Yikes.

During a Thursday interview on Morning Joe, Conway quipped that Greene joining Trump would be “perfect” because the two represent “a crock in every pot.”

“This will be the sociopath party ticket,” Conway said. “She absolutely would play to his worst instincts and play to the worst elements of the Republican base.”

The fact that she’s become more prominent within the party could wind up being problematic for Trump, Conway added.

“I think it would turn off the center of the electorate, but at the same time, I don’t think it’s going to be serious that she would get this because Trump cannot take someone as vice president who’s going to potentially upstage him,” he explained. “That’s why Mike Pence was so perfect for him.”

Pence acted as a “cipher” who placated Trump with his simplicity and habit of staying in the background, Conway said. Trump simply could never have a VP that would upstage him or get more press than him.

“[Pence] would basically nod and agree with what Trump said up until that day on January 6, which could have been prevented if we had a vice president who had conceded the election as it should have been conceded long before then,” Conway said. “So I don’t think it’s a realistic possibility, but the fact that we’re even talking about it is horrific.”

Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski couldn’t help but add that Greene’s controversies could push her to the top of the GOP “unless people get their heads on straight.”

Marj would love nothing more than to be the woman, and VP, by Trump’s side.

Considering the current crop of Republicans, does that seem likely? I think not.

Greene ardently defended House Speaker Kevin McCarthy as he plowed through 15 rounds of votes when the House GOP caucus finally handed him the gavel.

While defending McCarthy, Greene avoided her more controversial Republican colleagues Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert, leading Boebert to remark at one point that Greene was nasty to her while the two were in a congressional bathroom because Boebert repeatedly voted against McCarthy.

Jeffrey Lazarus, a political science professor at Georgia State University, in an interview with Newsweek that Greene’s rise within the Republican Party “reflects how important the nasty and unserious elements of GOP politics have become.” He specifically pointed out QAnon, a major conspiracy that Greene has referred to in the past.

“Greene represents the worst elements of the Republican Party, through her peddling of proven-false conspiracy theories, threats of violence against other House members, repetition of anti-Semitic tropes, and more,” Lazarus added. “The fact that she’s now a major national player in the party, to the point where she very plausibly could be vice president in 2025, is to be quite frank, deeply unsettling.”

But according to Nick Dyer, a spokesman for Greene, these rumors are unfounded.

“Congresswoman Greene is laser-focused (did he mean Jewish space lasers?) on serving the people of northwest Georgia on her new committees in the GOP majority,” he said. “Her work on oversight, homeland security and the COVID Select committee is her priority (except when she’s harassing LGBTQ people) and people shouldn’t get wrapped up into rumors.”

This is how low the Republican Party has sunk. They are definitely not the party of Abraham Lincoln anymore. They are instead, a party of squabbling, back-biting politicians who are only in it for their own gain. There’s a good chance they hold Greene up because it takes attention away from what they are doing. There is something very, very wrong here.

No rational, sane person would ever take her personally. So I hope George Conway is right.
