2024 Election

Trump Posts Meme So Embarrassing and DESPERATE That People Can’t Believe It’s Real

We all know that former President Donald Trump loves anything that flatters him, so of course he reposted a meme calling him the “savior of western civilization” and responded with appreciative comments on his Truth Social platform, Newsweek reports.

Trump shared the post, from Truth Social user @AQPatron early Friday morning. The post includes an image showing an image of the ex-president accompanied by the phrase “They told me I could be anything I wanted so I became the savior of western civilization.”

“Thank you. We have a long way to go, but we will get there!” an obvious nod to his 2024 presidential aspirations.

Trump launched his new campaign for the White House in November, and Newsweek reports he has been leading among potential Republican primary voters in a majority of polls. The meme was included in a thread of users praising Trump for pursuing a second term. You can probably imagine he soaked all that up, and there’s even one meme portraying him standing next to an American flag, with a caption that reads: “Donald J. Trump is the only one qualified to be President of the USA!”

Trump is the only GOP candidate to have formally announced a presidential run but that may change next week because former South Carolina governor and former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley is expected to officially launch her campaign. Trump has lambasted her for this because Haley had previously said she would not seek the Republican nomination if the former president was running but she’s obviously changed her mind and Trump was none too happy about that. So he gets a little snarky.

A poll conducted by YouGov/The Economist surveyed 409 adults from February 4 to 7 rated Trump at 42 percent in a potential GOP primary, while Haley garnered just 5 percent, well behind Florida governor Ron DeSantis at 32 percent and former Vice President Mike Pence at 8 percent.

But Pence and DeSantis haven’t set foot inside the ring just yet. However, there’s plenty of speculation both men will challenge Trump. DeSantis is widely expected to be the biggest potential threat to Trump’s chances of gaining the GOP nomination for a third go-round.

There’s evidence to suggest Trump may face a real challenge if DeSantis decides to run, according to a recent Monmouth University Poll conducted from January 26 to February 2. That poll found that 53 percent of 566 Republicans said they support DeSantis as their presidential candidate. Trump didn’t fare nearly as well, with only 40 percent saying they would choose him.

But there’s another part of that poll that should be of concern to Trump. It also found that evangelical Republicans support DeSantis in a potential primary by a wide margin — 51 to 44 percent. Evangelicals were crucial for Trump’s 2016 election victory.

So, Trump might be boasting now and posting self-congratulatory memes from his sycophants, but he’s got plenty of reasons to worry before 2024. And it’s not just because of all those investigations that are still ongoing.

Twitter had a field day with the “savior” meme:
