Trump’s Attorney Reveals His ‘Sad’ Mental State Prior to Probable Indictment

An attorney for former President Donald Trump said Tuesday he isn’t scared but he is sad about being the center of numerous criminal investigations, Newsweek reports.

On Saturday Trump announced on Truth Social that he believed he would be arrested Tuesday as a result of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s investigation into the ex-president allegedly paying adult film actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 to not publicly reveal their affair.

But to the disappointment of many of us (including me) Trump was not arrested Tuesday but the good news is that the protests he encouraged didn’t amount to squat, except for a scant few supporters and a few detractors. As he has done from day one, Trump still denies the affair and the payment.

But in a video tweeted by The New York Daily News’s Molly Crane-Newman, Trump lawyer Alina Habba shared her thoughts on Trump’s situation.

“Former President Trump and possible future President Trump has been unfairly treated,” Habba told reporters on Tuesday. “This is a politicization of our justice system. I think it’s frightening time for our country, frankly.”

“If Michael Cohen is a key witness as we’re hearing; if they’re getting debunked testimony from other people, this is speaking for itself. I hope that everybody’s eyes are open. It would be a very, very grave mistake for them to indict President Trump.”

One reporter asked about Trump’s state of mind and if he is scared.

“No,” she answered. “He’s not scared. No. He’s sad.”

Habba isn’t representing Trump in the hush money case. She was brought on board in September 2021 while working at a law firm in New Jersey. She replaced attorneys Marc Kasowitz and Charles Harder and subsequently filed a $100 million on Trump’s behalf against The New York Times and his niece, Mary Trump after the paper published his tax returns in 2018.

But on January 31, Habba was replaced as attorney in the Daniels case by criminal lawyer Joe Tacopina, who now defends Trump in that case and the battery and defamation lawsuit filed by former Elle columnist E. Jean Carroll.

Habba is now representing Trump and three of his older adult children in defense of New York Attorney General Letitia James’ civil fraud lawsuit. This lawsuit alleges the Trump Organization either inflated or under-valued the worth of several assets in order to obtain better bank loans and reduced tax bills among other benefits.

Standing outside a Manhattan courthouse, Habba wasted no time in putting a positive spin on the situation.

“I think this is another day for the former president, and I think that’s the important thing to take away from this,” Habba said. “This has been happening since he walked down the escalator in 2015 and 2016 when he was running and won.”

She painted him as the hero he’s not. It’s her job to do that of course, and the fact that she took the cases on simply means she’s as sleazy as he is.

“It is the way his life has turned, unfortunately,” Habba said. “He’s given up a lot for this country, he had a great life before. I’ll tell you that, and he’s willing to continue to sacrifice and I think that speaks volumes to his character and how much he loves this country.”

If amplifying racial tensions, hatred against the LGBTQ+ community, alienating leaders from foreign countries while kissing up to other leaders from countries we have to be wary of, and supporting crackpot QAnon theories and those who promote them is sacrificing himself, well hey, he’s done a bang-up job here.

I’ve included the video of Habba pandering to journalists below.
