Fox News Host Calls for President Biden to Pardon Trump and It Might Not Be the Worst Idea
According to Fox News host Geraldo Rivera, Joe Biden should offer Donald Trump a pardon in exchange for a guarantee that he will end his bid to regain the presidency in 2024. I know, I know…EFF THAT! What about justice? What about all the crimes? I get it, I do. But hear me out.
Rivera explained why he thinks Biden offering the former president clemency from federal prosecution “is a good idea” in a tweet on Tuesday. Rivera has previously described himself as a “friend” of Trump, although his relationship with the fat one-term loser soured after Trump’s attempts to overturn his 2020 election loss and the whole insurrection thing.
Trump, who is already facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York, could potentially be hit with federal charges stemming from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s dual investigations into his January 6 activities and issues surrounding his post-presidency handling of classified documents.
Trump has not been charged with or convicted of any federal crime and denies any wrongdoing. Rivera compared the prospect of Biden preemptively pardoning Trump to then-President Gerald Ford’s controversial 1974 pardon of former President Richard Nixon for any potential crimes related to the Watergate scandal.
“Biden pardoning Trump—the way Ford pardoned Nixon—IS a good idea,” Rivera tweeted. “This clemency to include inciting the violence of January 6th, the Mar-a-Lago documents case & any other federal allegation.”

“Clemency would require a pledge by Trump that he will no longer seek the presidency,” he added.

Rivera’s tweet on Tuesday expanded on his own earlier tweet from Monday, when he first described a Biden pardon of Trump as “a good idea” in reaction to a recent viral video of the current president laughing off the idea.
Doocy: Where are you on the idea of presidents pardoning Trump?

But let’s be real people. Trump is NOT going to prison. If you believe that, I am sorry. It simply will not happen. No judge is going to put a former president in prison.
The Stormy Daniels case is going no where. No where. Trump will laugh that off when he prevails.
Same for the New York A.G.’s case. It’s civil and going no where. Maybe a few charges will stick and he will get some fines.
The most serious cases are Georgia, where Trump was caught on tape basically ordering the Secretary of State to find him enough votes so he would win the state. That’s a serious charge and I believe charges will be brought and he will be found guilty. And it will take years. And Trump could be president by then.
Jack Smith’s cases are also very serious, with the classified document case being the one that is most troubling, and even Trump and his lawyers are concerned about it. But again, even though that case has been apparently wrapped up, the wheels of justice are so slow, and Trump could easily become president by the time there is a resolution, and that would leave us with a President Kari Lake or something worse.
Trump isn’t going to jail. The best possible thing for this country is Trump not running for office. Let him bask in his “wins” if he sees it that way. The rallies will be over. MAGA will be over. All the money being spent will be over. And we will never have to worry about another “President Trump” again. Because if Trump wins, this country as we know it is over.
Of course I feel I am alone, as people on Twitter felt differently:
No. He deserves no mercy. Pardoning Nixon set this precedent that you can get away with it. Huge mistake. We need to go all in and teach these criminals that no one above the law. President included.

He committed some very serious crimes plus he continues to commit them. There is no way that he should be considered for clemency when I believe that some of the crimes deserve life in prison.

Terrible idea…stick to opening empty vaults Geraldo.

Why don't we throw in what Trump said: “So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state.”

I’d rather see you shirtless in the mirror, and that’s saying something.

Pardon a lying, treasonous, pos, who attempted a coup against the United States. The man who to this day claims the election was rigged, who rapes and sexual abuses women, and bullies people? Sounds ok to me. GTFO you deluded, simpleton mofo!

This is the dumbest fucking tweet I have ever read 🏆

Just stop. His crimes are serious and you know this. Laws will mean absolutely noting if he walks. Pardoning Nixon was a HUGE mistake.
