GOP Hypocrisy

Marjorie Taylor Greene Flips Out When Witness Appears to Laugh in Her Face During Hearing

While the House Homeland Security Committee held a hearing on “left-wing violence” Tuesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene asserted that “we experienced some left-wing extremism of our own.”

The Georgia GOP representative mentioned that a group of left-wing protesters was arrested outside the hearing room, according to RawStory.

“You kinda can’t even make this up,” Greene said, insisting that “George Soros funded” the protest outside.

Then she claimed that since members at the hearing discussed the subject of white supremacy, she wanted to point out that people who support abortions are the real white supremacists, since “20 million Black babies” have been aborted in America “since Roe vs. Wade.”

As per usual, Greene didn’t say where she obtained this information, but that’s not unusual for her since she is frequently fact-free.

One person couldn’t help but start laughing at Greene’s comment. Amy Spitalnick, the executive director of Integrity First For America, apparently began laughing.

Greene was not amused.

“Is this funny to you?” Greene retorted. “Is babies being murdered in the womb funny to you? Because you’re smirking and laughing at me right now.”

Spitalnick got right to the point.

“What’s not funny are the Black people and Hispanic people and Jewish people and Muslim people who have been murdered in synagogues, in church, in supermarkets, in mosques, by white supremacists,” Spitalnick, a witness, shot back.

Ow.

And Spitalnick isn’t wrong. The Gun Violence Archive now reports there have been 225 mass shootings this year, but as usual, Republicans are balking at any useful solutions other than “thoughts and prayers.”

It really is true that the GOP is more concerned about children when they are in the womb, but as soon as they are born, they no longer care. They have fought sensible gun control measures for decades largely because they are in the pockets of the NRA and gun manufacturers.

And don’t expect anything to change as long as Republicans are able to keep profiting from death.

There’s nothing the least bit funny about this.
