Americans Furious at Jake Tapper After He Says He’ll Report on Hunter Biden Because He’s Made a Lot of Money Being ‘The President’s Son’
CNN’s Jake Tapper can be ornery, and it looks like he’s heading in that direction with Hunter Biden as coverage of the 2024 presidential election ramps up.
He said as much to podcaster Kara Swisher during the Monday edition of her show On With Kara Swisher, discussing the ways that he hopes to cover both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, Mediaite reports.
During that part of the discussion, Swisher asked Tapper how he plans to handle the news surrounding Biden’s son, Hunter, including the deal he recently reached with federal prosecutors.
“I think we cover it. We have been covering it and we need to cover it,” the veteran anchor said. “And well, you know, there are these whistleblowers who allege that there was much worse — and the DOJ didn’t listen. And then you have the former U.S. Attorney David Weiss who says he had complete control and he’s a Republican appointee, a Trump appointee.”
“We just, we just cover it all. I mean, look, I mean, Hunter Biden is who he is. It’s pretty clear who he is in addition to being an addict. He’s a guy who ethically has, there have been questions raised about his behavior and I think it’s worth covering,” Tapper explained.

I’m a little sad that Tapper slighted him for being an addict, but I think it wouldn’t hurt if more questions about him, in general, were raised. I do hope, however, this doesn’t take away from the truly awful and illegal things Trump has done.
But Tapper maintains he’s going to keep the focus on anything pertaining to Hunter.
“It’s also worth covering in context, the context of everything that’s being said in terms of like how fact-based any of it is, or how any evidence-based any of it is,” he said. “But, I’m not gonna shy away from covering Hunter Biden. He is the president’s son and has made a lot of money being the president’s son.”
Indeed, Hunter is a wealthy man, and as of March 2023, has a net worth of $230 million, has $130 million in assets, and has invested more than $60 million, according to ABC Action News.
So he’s definitely not hurting financially. But while Tapper plans to hone in on Biden, I still hope he keeps his focus on Trump as well because I’m quite sure his misdeeds make Biden’s pale in comparison.
Here’s what Tapper had to say.
People on Twitter are FURIOUS:
Yet he shies away from stories about Kushner who had made even more money being the former president’s son-in-law.

What money and please tell me how! Jared and Ivanka made the real money why isn't he covering that. Somebody tell me!

Fine, as long as he doesn't ignore people like the Kushner's………. pic.twitter.com/PjUlcmzKIy

Personally, I'm really not interested in Hunter. He's not in the W.H. and never has been. He's not even a government employee. Where's the coverage on people who did make big money while they were there, including the 2 billion received from the Saudis? Where's that reporting? 🤔
— Zena (@zena301) July 12, 2023
But he certainly will shy away from asking anyone about the obscene money Jared and Ivanka raked in. Specifically the Saudi money.

Will he do the same for everyone else's kids, especially the ones who made millions while actively working for their father?

I don't remember @jaketapper doing stories about Ivanka & Jared who made over $100 million while working in the WH "for free." Is he trying to shame HB because he made so much less when his dad was VP?https://t.co/lAmf1nQtmS
