Election 2020

Jan. 6 Rioter Targeted Obama’s DC Home on the SAME DAY Trump Posted Obama’s Address on Truth Social

Former President Donald Trump is a terrible human being, but he’s even worse than we thought. On Truth Social, he posted what he claimed was the home address of former President Barack Obama. That same day a man with guns in his van was arrested near the property, federal prosecutors said on Wednesday while revealing new details about the case.

Taylor Taranto, 37, who according to prosecutors, participated in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol, was carrying two firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition inside a van he was living in, having driven across the country, according to a Justice Department motion that seeks to keep him behind bars, The Independent reports.

On the day he was arrested, June 29, Taranto reposted a Truth Social post from Trump containing what the ex-president claimed was Obama’s home address. In a Telegram post, Taranto wrote: “We got these losers surrounded! See you in hell, Podesta’s and Obama’s.” John Podesta is the former chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Democratic presidential campaign.

But here’s what’s really creepy: Taranto also told followers on his YouTube live stream that he was trying to get a “good angle on a shot.”

When George W. Bush was president, he received 3,000 threats per year. Obama, the first African-American president, on the other hand, received 12,000. He is, according to Madison365, the most threatened president in the history of the United States.

Shameful.

But Donald Trump doesn’t care about things like this. He’d rather stir the pot because that’s how he rolls.

Trump posted an article that disclosed Obama’s address (we have blacked it out)

A close up of what Trump posted (we blacked out the addresses for Obama and Podesta).

Obviously, this certainly worked with Taranto.

His wife told investigators that Taranto came to Washington this time because House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s offer earlier this year to produce unseen video of the January 6, spurred him to do so, the federal detention memo reports. Taranto already faces four misdemeanor counts related to the Capitol attack, where, according to prosecutors, he joined the mob of rioters who broke into the building. Then he made his way to the entrance of the Speaker’s Lobby near the House chamber.

And prosecutors say Taranto was active online even after the failed insurrection, posting a video on Facebook of himself in the Capitol that day and promoting the conspiracy theory that the death of Ashli Babbitt is a hoax (even though it clearly isn’t). She was fatally shot by a Capitol Police officer while she was trying to climb through a broken door leading into the Speaker’s Lobby.

The FBI kept track of Taranto’s online activities because of his involvement in the riot and was hot on his trail after he asserted last Wednesday on his YouTube live stream that he was in Gaithersburg, Maryland on a “one-way mission” and planned to blow up the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

The next day, Taranto continued his live stream — from the Washington neighborhood that the Obamas call home. The U.S. Secret Service monitors this neighborhood heavily and was prepared when he said he was looking for “entrance points” and wanted to get a “good angle on a shot,” according to the DOJ’s detention memo. According to officials, Taranto was spotted by law enforcement only a few blocks from Obama’s home and fled while being chased by Secret Service officers.

This is the legacy Trump has left us with: Nutty followers who will go to any length and perhaps cause great harm to avenge his losing the election. People who have little critical thinking skills take every word Trump says as truth. Even though I believe in freedom of speech, I think Trump should be banned on all social media and Truth Social taken down. It’s a cesspool of extremist hysteria, and as we see here, is flat-out dangerous. Trump either hasn’t learned or doesn’t care that his awful online behavior could have terrible consequences.

I’m sure this is stressful for the Obamas. The Secret Service will really have to be on guard now since Trump has posted their home address for every lunatic to see.
