Ivanka Accused of Faking Video of Her Wakeboarding, and to Be Honest it Does Look Pretty Fake

Maybe she just has an aura of fake that makes everything around her look that way.

As reported in the Trump-friendly Miami Herald, former First Daughter Ivanka Trump was on the water over Labor Day. She had recently made a post on Instagram with both stills and video of her “wakesurfing,” which is like waterskiing but without a rope.

The Herald reported that “On Labor Day, the former first daughter posted a video of her behind a boat (needing no tow rope) as she glides effortlessly, with the Miami skyline in the background and a slight breeze blowing.” The city’s newspaper of record needed no convincing that she was doing what she said she was doing.

But some folks were not convinced, and it didn’t take long before commenters began accusing her of having used CGI to fake the video.

Now, I grew up in the dawn of that era — my generation invented the software that made faking this stuff accessible to the average person. So I’ve seen a heck of a lot of fakes.

As fakes go, this is a pretty good one, but you’ll never convince me it’s real.

As with any Instagram post, you have to go to the page and click through the arrows to see the different images and video on the post. A still comes up if you click above, but clicking the right arrow on that image will take you to the video.

If that doesn’t look like a woman in front of a green screen to you, you might be in the Trump cult. It seriously almost looks like a cartoon. That anyone would defend this is hilarious.

And Ivanka posted an Instagram video of her wakeboarding around the same time last year, and she certainly has improved if this new video is real! Take a look:

None of this is to say that Ivanka’s not in shape or that she couldn’t eventually learn to do something like this, but this is absolutely not her doing it now. Wakesurfing is extremely difficult — like, spend zero time with your kids in the warm months and do nothing but practice.

It’s definitely nothing new to see a Trump pretending they’re capable of something clearly untrue. But this just seems like a slap in the face to both her fans who believe her, and to the rest of us who have eyes.

And there were HUNDREDS of posts on Instagram of Ivanka getting called out for faking the video. Take a look:

And not about wakeboarding, but a really great point:
