Apparently Ivanka and Her Father Almost Ended Their Relationship in 2019 After She Did Something Behind His Back

This must have been a very awkward situation for Ivanka Trump.

Former President Donald Trump’s relationship with his eldest daughter was severely damaged when news broke that she had an undisclosed friendship with Christopher Steele, the former MI6 agent said in a witness statement in London, where Daddy Dearest is suing Steele’s intelligence company over the now-infamous Steele dossier.

Written by Steele in 2016, the dossier caused a political firestorm with its rumors and uncorroborated allegations about Trump and his possible connections to Russian election interference, Insider and The Associated Press report.

Trump being Trump, rejected Steele’s testimony, including the remarks about Ivanka.

The ex-president has accused Steele’s company, Orbis Business Intelligence, of violating data-protection laws in the UK with the dossier, which includes “many salacious allegations of compromising encounters between Trump and Russian figures,” per Insider.

Including the notorious “pee tapes,” which Steele said in an October 2022 interview with George Stephanopoulos “probably does exist, per The Daily Beast.

Stephanopoulos also asked him at the time why the Russians hadn’t released the tape, and it looks like the Russians decided not to because they felt they’d gotten plenty of good mileage out of it while Trump was president.

“It hasn’t needed to be released… I think the Russians felt they’d got pretty good value out of Donald Trump when he was president of the U.S.”

Trump has continued to deny the dossier’s contents, and some of its findings haven’t held up to scrutiny, Insider has previously reported.

The FBI pored over the dossier during its Trump-Russia probe, and even those efforts were scrutinized in a 2019 investigation by the Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz.

That’s where the fun part comes in because Steele’s testimony in the investigation brought out numerous unexpected details — including his lengthy friendship with Ivanka Trump.

Of course, her father has described Steele as a “Trump hater,” as Vanity Fair reported in 2019. But Steele said he told the Justice Department at the time that this wasn’t the case.

“I informed them that I had in fact had a friendship and professional relationship with Ivanka Trump … for several years,” Steele said in his testimony on Tuesday, The Times of London reported.

In 2019 The Guardian reported Steele and the younger Trump had a decades-long friendship and that the former spy had even gifted her with a “family tartan from Scotland.”

The Office of the Inspector General’s report on the investigation found that Steele informed investigators that “if anything he was ‘favorably disposed’ toward the Trump family.” The Office also noted he’d visited a younger member of the Trump family at Trump Tower, which turned out to be you know who.

Like I said, awkward.

And this did indeed become a problem and her father was not happy, Steele said in his witness statement Tuesday.

“My understanding is that Ms. Trump had not disclosed our relationship to her father, Steele said, per The Times.

Oops.

When Trump did find out, it “severely damaged their relationship,” he added.

Steele indicated that much of what he described as Trump’s “vindictive and vexatious conduct” toward him was due to Trump’s rage over his friendship with Ivanka, according to The Times.

The publication also noted the ex-president’s own witness statement described the reference to his daughter as “reckless,” adding: “Any inference or allegation that Mr. Steele makes about my relationship with my daughter is untrue and disgraceful.”

Perhaps Ivanka has tired of her father’s petulance, and that’s why she’s backed away from politics, after of course, serving as an advisor to him while he was in office.

She and her husband, Jared Kushner, also an ex-advisor to Trump during his time in office have noticeably distanced themselves from politics. She even announced last year that she was “done” with Washington and was absent during her father’s announcement last November that he was running for president again in 2024.
