Trump Family Complains Of ‘Disgusting’ Smell In New York Courtroom During Fraud Trial

Well, they have to complain about something, right?

Appearing on the right-wing network Newsmax, Donald Trump’s son Eric had a curious complaint about the civil fraud trial that’s now in its fourth day against the Trump family. Now that they know they’re not getting off the hook for the crimes they committed, they have turned to more mundane — and entitled — grievances.

Former president Trump has not been required to appear in court, yet he has. This is presumably to put on a show for opposing legal counsel and for his adoring fans. He also gets an opportunity to shoot looks at the judge and the New York Attorney General, Letitia James.

But also appearing in that courtroom was his son Eric, even after the elder Trump fled to Florida.

Eric had plenty to say on Newsmax:

“The courthouse I was in today, it’s disgusting. It smells. You had cables running across all the walls. It’s a disgrace and the fact that that’s a representation of our legal system…” he said. “You see the same thing at airports. I mean how many times do you fly through an airport and you see acoustical [sic] airport tiles that are falling down, right?”

Lest anyone think he was appearing just to complain about the smell, Eric was also griping about the averted government shutdown. Shutdowns are something that Republicans are very fond of, because their primary concern is not the good of the country, but getting what they want in concessions from Democrats.

“Do I think it was a mistake not shutting down the government? 100 percent. They should’ve,” Eric said. “We are running a $2 trillion deficit and our bridges are falling down and our roads suck and our trains are antiquated; they are from the 1950s. You look at China where they are building these bullet trains that go 300 miles per hour, we are falling behind the rest of the world.”

Of course, Republicans are 100 percent opposed to bullet trains as well. That would cut into profits for the fossil fuel industry, which the GOP made clear was unacceptable when they recently groused about how much more in government subsidies the renewable industry gets than oil and gas.

The reason Eric Trump and his family have the time and leisure to pick and choose the things they want to complain about is that they’ve already gone through the majority of this trial — the judge found them liable for fraud back at the end of September.

The only thing left to determine is whether NYAG Letitia James will get all or some of the $250 million in damages she is seeking, and whether the Trumps will be allowed to operate any businesses in the state again.
