Trump Mocked After Appearing to Blame ‘Hummus’ for Attacks on Israel

Maybe it’s just me, but hummus has always seemed tasty but otherwise unassuming.

But apparently, Donald Trump misspoke himself again. And yes, he’s getting mocked for blaming hummus for the attacks in Israel over the weekend, The Independent reports.

At a rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Trump just couldn’t seem to wrap his tongue around the name of the terrorist group Hamas and referred to it as “hummus” numerous times.

A clip of Trump’s speech went viral on social media and Trump received a right proper mocking from TV host Jimmy Kimmel. In the opening monologue of his show, Kimmel quipped that Trump’s speech displayed the “deep well of insight he has into this ongoing conflict in the Middle East.”

“Could you imagine anyone else in the world doing anything even remotely like that?” Kimmel asked.

“The guy who claims to be the most pro-Israel president of all time was in Cedar Rapids on Saturday demonstrating the deep well of insight he has into this ongoing conflict in the Middle East.”

“Yes, the hummus, the baba ghanoush, what they’re doing is a disgrace,” Kimmel quipped.

Folks on social media also couldn’t help mocking the former president on social media after a clip of his speech went viral.

MeidasTouch editor-in-chief Ron Filipkowski shared the video, captioning it with “Apparently, Israel was attacked by hummus.”

Someone else quipped: “I’ll be damned if you think I’m gonna stay quiet on Facebook while Hummus attacks Israel.”

In the aftermath of the attacks, Trump went on Truth Social to yell that the attack wouldn’t have happened if he were president, darn it!

“THE HORRIBLE ATTACK ON ISRAEL, MUCH LIKE THE ATTACK ON UKRAINE, WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED IF I WERE PRESIDENT — ZERO CHANCE!” he said, shouty as ever.

As he spoke at the rally in Iowa last weekend, Trump echoed this claim and blamed the Democrats for the attack, falsely claiming that American taxpayer dollars funded it.

He characterized the attack as an “act of savagery that must and will be crushed.”

Hamas terrorists poured into Israel Saturday morning, killing hundreds of people and taking dozens of hostages across the Gaza border.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a state of war and vowed “mighty vengeance” on the attackers.

Funny how people like Netanyahu never seem to remember that their own murderous actions may have caused the tragedy. Especially when you consider that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been displaced from their homeland since Israel’s formation in 1947, as the Center for Preventive Action reports. There have been thousands of deaths on both sides in the decades after Israel became a state.

I’m not condoning Hamas for this horrific war but hundreds of people on both sides have died, with Israeli officials saying more than 1200 people have been killed in the attacks. Meanwhile, more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed in retaliatory Israeli airstrikes, officials in Gaza said.

And at least 22 Americans have been killed in the attacks since the violence began on Saturday, according to the U.S. State Department.
