2024 Election

Trump Is Acting Like Everything Is Just Fine — But Reportedly He Is NOT FINE and ‘Very, Very Angry’

Former President Donald Trump is doing whatever he can to appear “fine” in the midst of his flood of legal battles, CNN’s Maggie Haberman reports, noting he is expending tremendous “energy” in doing so.

In his typical pitbull fashion, Trump has attacked prosecutors, judges, and even witnesses involved in the cases against him.

As we know, Trump is in more trouble than anyone can shake a stick at — with criminal indictments in four jurisdictions. And two of those criminal cases stem from his attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Then, of course, there’s the one pertaining to his allegedly keeping government documents after he left office. The fourth one involves the alleged falsification of business records in the hopes of concealing hush money payments to cover up an extramarital affair, as Mediaite reports. Lastly, he’s also the defendant in a civil fraud trial and a defamation trial.

“What is the former president’s mindset these days?” Anderson Cooper asked Haberman Friday on his CNN show, AC360 on CNN. “Obviously his legal problems are mounting. He’s still polling well. Any sense of how confident he is?”

“There is an enormous amount of energy invested in Trump portraying himself as fine and nothing bothering him,” Haberman said. “And you are seeing that come out in various ways. People who are in contact with him frequently will acknowledge he is very, very angry. He also clearly does not want to be sentenced to prison.”

It shows that Trump thinks he’s above all this when he is clearly not. I don’t think there’s a person in the world who wants to be in prison but it looks like he’s (allegedly) broken a whole bunch of laws, and prison is where he should wind up. If any of us did what he did, we’d wind up behind bars no questions asked.

He is not special.

But the interesting thing is, even though he has a ton of legal problems, Haberman said people within Trump’s inner circle are optimistic about his chances in next year’s general election.

“They are feeling good about his chances in the election,” she told Cooper, adding that Trump views winning the presidency as a way to avoid prison. “It is really about winning — and winning in part, Anderson, as a means of dealing with these cases.”

And this is why I don’t understand Republicans. Trump is in so much trouble, and yet somehow, they support him. Just check out any recent polls and you’ll find he has overwhelming support among Republicans.

I don’t get it.
