I do not know what fires the neurons of Donald Trump’s sluggish brain, nor do I know what part of that brain makes him sound ominous and flat-out nuts at the same time. All I know is that something in that 77-year-old brain flips a switch and the mouth opens once again. This time he has a sharp warning for former presidents, including George W. Bush and Barack Obama, asserting that they would be “in prison” without presidential immunity.

The former president’s remarks are likely spurred by the fact that a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that he is not immune from prosecution for the crimes he allegedly committed during his time in the White House, stemming from the four pending criminal cases being litigated. As pretty much everyone who isn’t dead knows they include four counts associated with a federal election interference case, which includes such things as conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, all of which he has denied and pleaded not guilty to all charges, Newsweek reports.

Trump’s attorneys could appeal the unanimous decision that was made by Judges Michelle Childs and Florence Pan, who were appointed by President Joe Biden, and Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson, who was appointed by George H.W. Bush.

Since the federal appeals court ruling, Trump has apparently hit the panic button — doing what he usually does, which is to rant on Truth Social.

“If a President does not have Immunity, the Opposing Party, during his/her term in Office, can extort and blackmail the President by saying that, ‘if you don’t give us everything we want, we will Indict you for things you did while in Office,’ even if everything done was totally Legal and Appropriate,” Trump wrote Wednesday.

“That would be the end of the Presidency, and our Country, as we know it, and is just one of the many Traps there would be for a President without Presidential Immunity. Obama, Bush, and soon, Crooked Joe Biden, would all be in PRISON. Protect Presidential Immunity. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

While Trump’s attorneys plan to appeal the ruling, they also filed a motion to appeal another case led by Special Counsel Jack Smith connected to Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents. Trump’s lawyers may be shifty but they are also industrious. Trump has been charged with illegally hoarding classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida residence, and obstructing government efforts to retrieve the documents. Trump-supporting/Trump-appointed judge Aileen Cannon, who is unfortunately presiding over the documents case is set to meet with the former president’s attorneys on February 12, following a hearing she had with Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors last week. The trial is scheduled to begin in May.

The hearing set for February 12 is connected to Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA) motions that the DOJ filed in December that argue that Trump and two co-defendants, Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira should be restricted from access to classified documents.

I’ll submit that there’s one more thing I know about Trump’s brain: He says something and suddenly a bunch of little people scatter like ants to do his bidding. And I doubt neither Obama nor Bush is worried about immunity. We already know there was a major misfire with Bush’s “Weapons of Mass Destruction” and that during his last year in office, Obama dropped 26,172 bombs in seven countries in the Middle East, according to the Council on Foreign Relations but it’s unlikely that either former president will have to even think about Trump’s ridiculous claims about immunity.

Because whatever Trump thinks, politics and legal ethics in D.C. just don’t work that way anymore.
