2024 Election

Trump Appears to Be Dragging His Leg in New Video and People Have Questions

As the 2024 presidential election looms, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are being scrutinized constantly, and since both men are elderly, that scrutiny is often focused on their physical and mental health. Trump, especially, has had some notable mental and physical mishaps. But Biden, who recently had a physical examination courtesy of Kevin O’Connor, is fortunately in good health. Which he noted in a memorandum to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

But as most of us already know, it’s been a different story with Trump. We’ve seen him appear to have trouble doing everyday things like drinking out of a water bottle and navigating a ramp. There’s been rumors surrounding him and his alleged use of Adderall.

Now his health is being called into question again because he’s been seen on video “dragging that right leg” and it’s gone viral on social media. Folks online have renewed speculation over his right leg even though there really hasn’t been any news suggesting there is something wrong with his leg and no suggestion that he’s not well.

But Ron Filipkowski, the editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch, uploaded a video to X where people are cheering Trump as he walks into a room, Newsweek reports.

“Still dragging that right leg,” Filipkowski posted over the video. The post has been viewed more than 803,000 times so far.

I’ve watched the clip a few times and I can’t tell if he’s dragging that leg or not. I can see he’s walking stiffly, which is nothing out of the ordinary for a 77-year-old man. And a spokesperson for Trump responded to Newsweek in snarky fashion: “As President Trump said, crooked Joe Biden is a mental midget unfit for office.”

But Filipkowski’s video clip definitely had people wondering and offering suggestions.

“He’s known to have a bad back. I’m wondering if he has nerve compression and a drop foot,” one person wrote.

“Frontotemporal dementia causes balance and gait problems. Who’s going to keep him from toppling if Junior’s not there?” another X user quipped.

“Right hip and knee carrying too much weight. Needs hip or knee replacement or both. It happens at that age to a lot of elderly,” someone observed.

And a fourth person wrote: “I would love to see a thorough report of a physical exam of Trump conducted by an independent and competent physician.”

Others thought this was much ado about nothing.

One person responded “Meaning…what, exactly?”

“Misery loves company here. Losers to the 3rd power,” another retorted.

Of course, Trump has long been in Filipkowski’s crosshairs, and that funky leg has continually made him wonder about Trump’s physical health. In the past, he’s reposted a video uploaded by Jason Miller, Trump’s senior adviser, that shows the former president delivering pizza to firefighters right before the Iowa caucuses.

“He keeps dragging that right leg,” Filipkowski wrote at the time. The clip has since been viewed more than 990,000 times. Again, I don’t see it. I see an elderly man walking stiffly. I’m the biggest Trump critic there is but I’m calling it as I see it. And Trump said in the Washington Post:

“You always have to talk about health. You look like you’re in good health, but tomorrow, you get a letter from a doctor saying come see me again. That’s not good when they use the word again.”

I’m not fond of that word either. I’ve heard it more than once. But here’s the thing: I don’t know if Trump is dragging that much-discussed leg. I don’t know if Biden still stumbles over the occasional word. What I do fully understand is that we’re likely to be trusting the fate of the world in the hands of two elderly men. Biden has been less of a trainwreck than Trump, by a wide margin but this job is without a doubt the world’s most important job and it’s really time for both parties to support younger candidates.

That said, I would prefer to see Biden serve another term. Trump was a nightmare the first time around and I don’t like thinking about what he might do if he wins this time.

So I’m nervous. I really am.

There’s also this weird scene, where Trump hands something to his co-defendant Walt Nauta, who he won’t let out of his sight:
