Over the years, while she was friends with Melania Trump and worked within the Trump White House, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff began to understand how the former first couple worked. These two, she realized were like two peas in a pod. Even to the point of sharing the same sense of humor. She noted this in her book Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady, where she first discussed the former model’s reaction to the brouhaha over the Access Hollywood tape where the world found out about her husband’s “grabbing women by the p***y” tape.

Surprisingly, Winston Wolkoff wrote at the time that Melania wasn’t bothered by Trump’s disgusting remark, which became public in 2016, Inquisitr reports. While Winston Wolkoff has never admitted or denied secretly recording Melania’s remarks, she did say she expected the former First Lady to be “in tears,” and she was shocked when that didn’t turn out to be the case. In an interview with ABC News, Winston Wolkoff reported she met Melania just after the tape became public, and she appeared ‘radiant’ and ‘smiling’.

“It was as if nothing happened.” Wolkoff continued, “I said to her, how many times have you heard the words ‘p***y’ and president in the same sentence? And we burst out laughing.”

Still stunned, the former adviser asked her, “‘Are you upset, and doesn’t it get you angry?'” But she noted Melania is pretty logical and she revealed the former First Lady’s response was, “If you can’t control people’s emotions, then why even worry about it.”

And this, Wolkoff elaborated, “is how [Melania] she is… And that’s how she lived her life, and that is what she stood by every day.” Melania was someone who ‘exuded’ confidence and, accordingly, she ‘gives you that confidence,” Wolkoff explained.

“She knows who she married [and] what she was getting into, and so did he.”

In the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, when Trump was due to face his opponent, Hilary Clinton, Access Hollywood released audio of the now-infamous remarks. Then The Washington Post posted the clip of Trump’s interview with Billy Bush, then the host of the show and that’s when he talked about kissing and grabbing women without their permission because he was “attracted to them like a magnet.”

Trump famously bragged, “When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. I’m automatically attracted to beautiful—I just start kissing them…Just kiss. I don’t even wait. Grab them by the p***y. You can do anything.”

The backlash was swift and Trump released a statement on Twitter, which is now X, defending himself and offering an apology.

“Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong and I apologize.” He insisted he was a different person now and that “I pledge to be a better man tomorrow and will never let you down.”

Melania seems to be the pragmatic sort. Maybe her disgusting husband’s atrocious behavior didn’t harm her self-confidence. But of course, she knows she can use her famous name for more and more grifts, so there’s that also. And if he becomes president again, the grift situation will only improve for her.
