A new article in the NY Post about Melania Trump’s upcoming fundraiser for her husband’s 2024 run says that the campaign is going to use her as a “secret weapon.”

A source told the Post that they’re hoping she serves as a “softer, more moderate voice” on behalf of Donald.

The event is planned for the 20th of April, and will be hosted at Mar-a-Lago — she doesn’t like to go far, after all — by the Log Cabin Republicans. If you’re unfamiliar, the LCR are a group of gay people who apparently hate gay people, because they keep voting for and raising money for Republicans who hate gay people.

Insiders explicitly said they intend to put Mel in the spotlight and keep her there for the rest of the campaign. They mean to use her as a counterpoint to her husband’s mouthy, bullying style.

The Post insider said “The Trump campaign recognizes that Melania is their secret weapon. Her appeal is critical to win battleground states and undecided voters, especially now that they’ve won the primary and are hyper-focused on the general.”

And that’s from someone inside the Trump campaign. One Democratic strategist said “This is just the beginning of using softer faces and voices as surrogates. They’re coming up with a more diverse picture — they’re trying to make voters feel more comfortable”

The 53-year-old ex-First Lady is apparently pretty popular, according to GOP fundraiser Caroline Wren.

“People will ask me if Melania will be at a fundraiser before they sign up. People really like her… she is a huge asset to the campaign and to fundraising.”

It’s hard for me to imagine how they could possibly believe they could win over an undecided voter who has ever heard a thing about that time Trump raped a woman by showing them the woman he cheated on his previous wife with. Oh, and cheated on with a porn star and a Playboy model while she was pregnant with his kid.

But that’s where they’re going with this.

I mean, yeah, they’re using gay Republicans, too, to appeal to people who believe in gay rights. But they’re still Republicans.

Who is being fooled by their attempt to look “nice” to people who know Trump once tried to bulldoze an old lady’s house to make room for a limousine parking lot for his casino? Who are they going to win over, who ever read the reports of Trump’s loss in a lawsuit that accused him of refusing to rent to black people?

The strategy is obvious, and it’s not going to win undecided voters, no matter what the strategists think. Close your eyes — you can see Melania’s boobs right now because we’ve all seen the pictures now.
