People Disgusted With What Trump Pulled in Court Today and Call for the Judge to Lock Him Up
Donald Trump is doing everything he possibly can to get himself thrown in jail prior to any possible conviction.
He has thrown so many threats and cries of victimhood out that he’s already had to be legally gagged and, even then, can’t help himself and violates those orders again and again, showing blatant disregard for the law.
But today, he did something so dangerous that his attorneys likely had a heart attack.
Trump communicated with a possible juror – you cannot do that, and Judge Merchan left no doubt in Trump’s mind that Merchan wasn’t going to let Trump ever do it again.
The issue came about during a discussion on a social media post made by a prospective juror. The juror had a Facebook video of people “celebrating” the 2020 election. Trump’s attorneys argued that this video was “clearly an anti-Trump event.”

Judge Merchan agreed with Trump’s attorneys that the video warranted the defense’s request to bring the possible juror in for questioning. The prosecution argued that this was just someone filming other people celebrating the election results.
According to Newsweek’s reporter in the courtroom,
“Trump then appeared to shake his head at the prospective juror. Trump was reprimanded by the bench after he was seen gesturing to a potential juror. Merchan said Trump was clearly audible while doing so.”
The judge responded by stating that he will not tolerate attempts to intimidate witnesses. Trump attorney Todd Blanche then whispered to the former president.
If there was ever a trial where a defendant could get in more trouble by communicating with a witness or a juror (in any way), it’s beyond my imagination. This is a former president with an adoring cult of MAGAs who have already proven that they will be violent if urged on.
The Manhattan courts will do all they can to keep jurors and witnesses safe, but life comes with very few guarantees. If Trump were to show ANY anger or even “disagreement” with anyone in the courtroom, he might well have just created a dangerous situation.
That is why it will be almost a miracle if Trump gets through this trial without being held in contempt. Trump has “owned” every room he’s ever been in. He refuses to be around people who don’t adore him. But now, he’ll be forced to sit in a room and hear from people who talk about things Trump doesn’t like – how is he going to sit silently?
I can’t see it, which is why I can’t see how Trump gets through this without spending some time chilling for a few hours behind bars.
The net had a few thoughts:
Trump was audibly gesturing and speaking at a potential juror who was being questioned in court today. Judge Merchan to Trump lawyers: “Your client was audibly uttering. I will not have any jurors intimidated in the courtroom."
This needs to be the last warning.

tRump being admonished by Judge Merchan will not change tRump’s behavior. He has been “admonished” over and over. tRump needs to be admonished directly to jail, especially for intimidating a perspective juror. NO one is above the law. https://t.co/mv9JMH1Pzk

NEW: Not even 2 days in, Judge Merchan calls out Trump’s conduct, telling Todd Blanche “while the juror was about 12 feet from client, your client was audibly saying something in her direction….I will not have any juror intimidated in this courtroom.”

When Trump's lawyer questioned a juror about Facebook posts, the former president reacted audibly and visibly.
After she leaves, Justice Merchan angrily warns him via his lawyer:
"I will not have any jurors intimidated in this courtroom. I want to make that crystal clear."

That was a big loss for Trump, the challenge for cause was denied
The juror had a couple of Facebook posts from the 2020 election that Trump did not like
Judge properly found that the juror had honest & good explanations under the Arnold case https://t.co/7E3iGaY1Sp

Trump's lawyer moves to strike a potential juror after Trump tries to intimidate her in open court, using the classic "she probably doesn't like people who try to intimidate her" mock trial gambit.

Whoa. Judge Merchan just kinda blew up on Trump, who he said was trying to intimidate a juror by muttering and gesturing at the juror who posted the Facebook video.
"I will not have any jurors intimidated in this courtroom. I want to make that crystal clear."
