Doug Emhoff’s Ex-Wife Takes a Shot at Melania Trump and It’s AMAZING

Melania Trump could learn a thing or two from Doug Emhoff’s ex-wife. We all know the former First Lady has pulled a huge disappearing act before, during, and after her husband Donald Trump’s time in the White House.

But the same definitely can’t be said about Kerstin Emhoff, Doug Emhoff’s ex. She’s declared herself a fierce supporter of Kamala Harris — unlike Melania who is as elusive as the unicorn.

Although Kerstin and Doug Emhoff divorced 14 years ago, with him even admitting to having had an affair during their marriage, Kerstin maintains a famously close relationship with her ex-husband and Harris, The Independent reports. She’s even spoken out about how all three of them co-parent Ella and Cole Emhoff.

It’s a modern relationship for modern times.

And Kerstin joined their “blended” family for the first two days of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago — and this led one social media to draw comparisons between her and Melania.

“Kamala’s husband’s ex-wife is supporting her more enthusiastically than Trump’s current wife is supporting him,” wrote television producer Ben Wexler on X.

To which Kerstin, a 57-year-old film producer, responded and reshared the post, adding “Damn right.”

Kerstin, in her two days of attending the DNC, has already doubled the Melania made during July’s Republican National Convention, where hubby Donald Trump was named the Republican Party’s presidential nominee. And Kerstin has shared several posts on social media, including one post to Instagram, where she shared a selfie with Harris’s running mate Tim Walz, and her children Ella and Cole.

“It was like new members of the family,” she wrote.

Kerstin has ardently supported Harris on the political stage(even joining her as she was inaugurated Vice President in 2021) and as a co-parent for the Emhoff kids. This is another contrast between her and Melania Trump, who clearly dislikes her stepdaughter, Ivanka Trump. Melania is rather diffident to the rest of the Trump children, with the only exception being Barron, who is her son with Donald Trump.

And when those dumb comments made by JD Vance in July recently resurfaced — the ones where he attacked Harris and her fellow Democrats as “childless cat ladies,” Kerstin had a thing or two to say.

“These are baseless attacks,” she said in a statement to CNN.

“For over 10 years, since Cole and Ella were teenagers, Kamala has been a co-parent with Doug and I. She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present.”

“I love our blended family and am grateful to have her in it,” she added.

It’s nice to see the DNC entering the 21st Century, welcoming Harris’s modern family dynamic. With Kamala’s stepkids and husband in attendance, it made the convention look like modern America, as opposed to the RNC, which looked more like a convention of used car salesmen.

On Tuesday night, Kamala’s husband and her stepson Cole appeared onstage to throw their support behind her campaign and to reveal a bit about their family life. As he spoke, Doug praised Harris as his wife, stepmom to his children, and as a potential president. He added she is a “joyful” political warrior who stands toe-to-toe with bullies. He also shared a more intimate portrait that included an anecdote that The Independent describes as “toe-curling.” And apparently, it’s one she makes him listen to every anniversary.

“Wherever she’s needed, however she’s needed, Kamala rises to the occasion. And she did it for me and my family,” he told the jam-packed crowd. “And now that the country needs her, she’s showing you what we already know: she’s ready to lead.”

Doug also told the audience that meeting Harris was the most pivotal part of his life and added that she would be “exactly the right president.”

There was plenty of warmth to go around as Emhoff’s 30-year-old son Cole shared a poignant video about their family life and how his “goofy dad” wound up in the life of politics. In  the video, he added that when Doug and Harris married a decade ago, Kamala became “Momala.”

Over time, the Emhoffs adapted to the world of politics. But it would take a while.

“Our blended family wasn’t used to politics or the spotlight, but when Kamala became senator, we were all excited to step up. Especially my dad,” the young man said in the video.

“Then Kamala became vice president. It felt like Doug was a bit out of place on Capitol Hill. I thought, ‘What is my goofy dad doing here?’”

Cole’s sister Ella has also been seen daily at the DNC, even at one point sporting a Harris-Walz camo hat.

Hopefully, Harris will win in November and this would truly be significant, not only because she’d be the first female president, she would also be the first Asian-American president, and as Cole noted, his dad would become the very first, first gentleman. Doug is, of course, already the first second gentleman as well as the first Jewish person to be in such a position.

“We might not look like other families in the White House,” Cole said, wrapping things up. “But we are ready to represent all families in America.”

This would be a definite switch from the overstuffed, overindulgent Trump family, who didn’t look anything like everyday Americans. There was too much artifice here. Too much plastic added to body parts, so much so that at least a couple of family members began to look ridiculous. They may have been the most superficial First Family ever.
