Mike Pompeo Ridicules Jamal Khashoggi In Upcoming Memoir and It’s Truly Revolting

Hanan Elatr Khashoggi undoubtedly suffered horribly when her husband Jamal Khashoggi was murdered and she is understandably angry at former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for his comments on her husband in his upcoming memoir in which he questions Khashoggi’s journalism credentials and his allegiances, Common Dreams reports.

When excerpts from his book, Never Give An Inch: Fighting For The Country I love were revealed the day before its scheduled release date Tuesday, Elatr Khashoggi told NBC News she wishes she was able “to silence all of these people who publish books, disparage my husband, and collect money from it.”

And she definitely fired back in response to NBC News when it reported that in Pompeo’s book, he has this to say about Jamal Khashoggi: “He didn’t deserve to die, but we need to be clear about who he was—and too many in the media were not.”

Pompeo contends in his book that Khashoggi “was cozy with the terrorist-supporting Muslim Brotherhood” and alluded to the stories Khashoggi wrote about Osama bin Laden and his friendship with the terrorist leader. Pompeo also claimed Khashoggi was an activist rather than a journalist. Even though he wrote for The Washington Post and was a prominent Saudi journalist.

The couple was married in 2018 in an Islamic ceremony, and Elatr Khashoggi told NBC that “Jamal Khashoggi is not part of the Muslim Brotherhood” and said her husband “always condemned” the September 11 attacks that bin Laden masterminded.

“Whatever Mike Pompeo mentions about my husband Jamal Khashoggi, he doesn’t know my husband,” she posted on Twitter.

Khashoggi regularly wrote critically about the Saudi government and was killed in October 2018 by several assassins in Istanbul. Khashoggi’s family sued Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, alleging he personally ordered the assassination in 2020. A report by the United Nations found that “high-level officials” in Saudi Arabia were responsible for Khashoggi’s murder. The Biden administration, in a shameful move, recommended that bin Salman, who is prime minister, should be shielded from U.S. lawsuits regarding the case.

This esteemed journalist’s murder was brutal, and I don’t care what anyone says, the Biden administration acted wrongly here. And Pompeo seems to be on the same thing. He attacked Khashoggi but then turned right around and noted the U.S.  has a long had ‘strategic” relationship with the Saudis to keep in mind.

No matter what they do, I guess.

I can’t help but feel Elatr Khashoggi’s desperation here.

“Shame on you, Mike Pompeo, HarperCollins, and Broadside Books for publishing these lies about my husband,” she tweeted.

Pompeo is considering running for President in 2024. I hope he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in Saudi Arabia.
