Mitch McConnell Tells CEOs to ‘Stay Out of Politics,’ But Wants Them to Keep Giving Him the Big Bucks
At least as far back as the glory days of the European monarchies in the enlightenment, big business has been intertwined with “politics.” Wealthy citizens of all types worked to earn the King’s favor. In fact, the world’s very first corporation was started by King Charles II, who formed the “Hudson Bay Company.”
Explorers wanted the King to invest in the exploration of the Hudson Bay area in an attempt to bring back thousands of beaver pelts, very valuable in Europe at the time. The King wanted them, too, he just wanted to limit his investment, hence, the “corporation.”
Politics and big money are inextricable. If one has a lot of the latter, one controls a lot of the former. And politicians like Mitch McConnell are more than happy to take corporate money and push their business interests. Mitch McConnell came to Congress and the Senate as someone with little money. He is worth millions today. It is odd, given that he makes less than $200,000 a year in the Senate. We aren’t sure how money goes through campaigns to independent contractors and maybe back to the politician, we just know that it happens.
So having established that corporate America is happily invited into politics when they are expected to write a check, it’s a little different when corporate America thinks that one side is doing the wrong thing and shutting the other side (Mitch McConnell’s side) out. As everyone knows, some of the countries biggest companies are now coming out against Georgia’s new voting laws.
Mitch McConnell isn’t happy about it and has told big corp to get the heck out of the people’s business!
Yes yes, business interests, famously never involved in politics. Was there a rimshot after this? https://t.co/fr6Vkc6t8q pic.twitter.com/oy2XWn0twy

“My advice to corporate CEOs of America is to stay out of politics.” And a “vehicle of the far left mobs, hijack our country from outside the constitutional order?” That is almost sickening in its hypocrisy. The last mob that tried to hijack constitutional order didn’t come from the far left.

That should do it. pic.twitter.com/DXPRXLsAlR

Twitter held nothing back:
I would give that same advice right back at him — "My advice to corporate senators is to stay out of politics." https://t.co/XXwTrCskUB

Does this mean no more acceptance of donations from these companies? McConnell is the worst of the bunch for wanting their money when it's convenient for him.https://t.co/D7fGxdexlG

Yeah, Mitch took it on the chin today. It is hard to believe he read that statement and thought; “That sounds good and believable. It won’t sound slightly hypocritical, those left-wing mobs are terrible for our constitution and order!”
My god.

Peace, y’all
