Conservative CPAC Attendees Greet CNN Reporter Jim Acosta with Chants: ‘CNN Sucks’ and ‘Get Him!’

But no, it isn’t a cult, it is just a regular political party that is a little excited.

On the opening day of CPAC we have already seen a banner reading “The Best Part of Waking Up Is Donald Trump” with a picture of Trump drinking coffee, we have seen – and this is real – a golden statue of Trump wheeled down the main hall, we have seen the crowd boo having to abide by hotel rules over wearing masks amidst an epidemic during the conference, and a speech given by another cult leader-Trumpist, Genki Fujii from Japan. But now, as CNN political correspondent Jim Acosta walks into the main hall, chants of “CNN Sucks!” and one woman even yelling “Get him!” erupted.

But, no, it is not a cult. The cry to “Get him!” ought to send shivers down anyone who remembers January 6th, which is all of us.

According to Mediate:

CNN’s Jim Acosta, a contentious figure to many conservatives and Donald Trump supporters, was swarmed by a crowd of hecklers and selfie-seekers at the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, on Friday.

Bloomberg News’s William Turton took to Twitter to post videos of the scene, which show several members of the crowd chanting, “CNN sucks!”

And for those that want to see and embrace the horror:

The MAGAs would not exist were it not for the fact that the conservatives seek out their own media. Some of that is done on the left, too, but more responsibly. Additionally, no one on the left would spend time chanting “Fox Sucks!” as there would be better things to do.

But singling out one individual to chant as a klan, really does get scary. What happens if journalists start refusing to cover MAGA events? Democracy dies in darkness, as the Washington Post masthead notes. But could anyone blame someone who refused to cover an event. It is bad enough for someone like Jim Acosta. Now imagine how much worse the sickness might be if some of the chauvinist, misogynistic, men confronted an attractive young woman in the media and there were no cameras around.

It is bad enough to just agree to not allow darkness to descend upon this terrifying gathering.
