Herschel Walker Says He’s Praying About Whether to Run for GA Senate Seat — Praying Because He Lives in Texas?

Herschel Walker wants to run against Senator Ralph Warnock – who holds a seat that is up for reelection in 2022 – and is seriously contemplating a campaign. There is no question that Walker has always been a “presence,” whether playing football or as a spokesperson afterward. He is intelligent, contemplative, knowledgeable of the issues, and a very sensitive person. He is also a Republican, which would sort of wash out everything we just wrote.

He has a few things going for him. For one, he’s a Fox media darling. It is not often a proud black man runs as a Republican. So he gets a lot of airtime and softball questions in Fox’s attempt to look less racist. Walker also has Trump’s support, which would mean everything, normally – though it meant fck-all in the last senate race in Georgia. Walker is also a legend in Georgia, having played running back for UGA back in the glory days of the running back position, and he was no ordinary running back. He was one of the best of all time.

He does have one thing going against him. Herschel Walker finished his career as a Dallas Cowboy (or some of the last years of his career) and apparently liked Texas enough such that he stayed. Walker is a Texas resident, which makes running for the Senate from Georgia a bit harder and would require him to move to Georgia, sooner rather than later.

Maria Bartiromo, the easiest MAGA interview on television, had Walker on this morning to really grill him about his future plans:

Bartiromo: We know that former President Trump wants you to run for Senate. What is the answer? Are you considering running for the Senate seat in Georgia in the 2022 race?

Walker: I’m very honored that they would consider me running for the Senate. My family, we’re still going through this process of praying and really considering it. And at the same time, I take it very serious. And people want me to decide, like, right now. And I said, guys, I want to take my time because this is a very serious, serious thing.

We think he should take lots of time. He should take all the time in the world. It is a big decision, one that a person ought to invest years of prayer into. We say that because Walker would be a formidable candidate. Despite being a Republican, he is a pretty decent guy and is a legend in Georgia. He would give Warnock a real run. If he was from Georgia.

The whole “if he was from Georgia” thing opened himself up a bit on Twitter to a bit of ridicule.
