CPAC Attendee Says Trump Will Regain His ‘Rightful Seat as President as Soon as the Election is Overturned’

CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan was on hand over the weekend to cover former President Donald Trump’s appearance at the CPAC conference, and on Sunday he filed a report to Jim Acosta that included Trump’s usual bombast as well as several of his supporters parroting some of his most spurious claims.

This time around, the Conservative Political Action Committee held the conference in Dallas, Texas, where Trump predictably gave a speech littered with baseless claims that he lost the election because it was rigged or stolen, Mediaite reports.

Afterward’s, O’Sullivan interviewed a number of audience members who repeated Trump’s claims — almost verbatim, in some cases. That pretty much tells you how effective the power of repetition really is — especially when it comes to people who purposefully keep themselves misinformed or lack the proper critical thinking skills.

At one point, O’Sullivan asked one attendee whether she accepted that Trump lost the election.

“I accept that on paper things happened to make it appear that way,” the woman said. “I don’t know what would have happened. I find it very questionable that he lost given the support that he had.”

Another attendee claimed Trump had nothing to do with the January 6th insurrection. “He didn’t invoke any kind of violence,” she said. “Multiple people attended and a few crazies got crazy.”

But even Trump supporters, on occasion, can be rational. A little bit, anyway. One woman said she accepted that Trump lost but also believed “there are some discrepancies, and those will be revealed at some point,” but then another audience member jumped in, saying Trump will be reinstated as president this year, “as soon as the election is overturned for the election fraud.” These people can dream on, however. From a constitutional standpoint, this is just not going to happen. No matter how much they might wish it.
