In an interview with The Atlantic published on Tuesday, John Kelly made a prediction about the 2024 campaign that goes against what many Republicans, including Donald Trump, have hinted at so far about the next presidential election. Kelly was Trump’s longest-serving Chief of Staff, but has been critical of the former president since the January 6 Capitol riots.

Kelly said he does not believe Trump will run for president in the 2024 election race. Until now, it has seemed likely that the former president would indeed try to reclaim his presidential title. He has continually implied that he will run, and has even said in recent interviews that he believes he would win if he did.

However, Kelly is not the only former Trump ally who is making the claim that Trump will likely back out of running when the time truly comes. Both Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, and John Bolton, the former National Security Advisor, have made similar comments that they believe he will not go through with his campaign.

The reason John Kelly cites for his opinion is that Trump simply hates being seen as a loser, or as he puts it, he “cannot” be seen as a loser.

Assuming that Trump does in fact know that he truly lost the race, despite the false propaganda he continues to push about a rigged election, then he would most likely fear another loss if he ran once again. In addition, Trump will keep teasing that he is running, because the minute he says he isn’t, the money train stops. And that’s what this is all about my friends, money.

Trump has expressed in his own interview that he feels he has a good shot if he did run again since many democratic candidates do not want to run against him. In that capacity, he is not entirely wrong. For that reason, many Americans are hoping that Kelly and his other former colleagues are correct in their assumption that Trump will finally accept that he is not rightfully president, and will not try to run again.
