For Capitol Officer Michael Fanone Says Trump Should Be Arrested and Tried — But Doesn’t Have High Hopes for Merrick Garland

Donald Trump knows he’s in trouble, we have already seen his “truthstorm” this morning. Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony was absolutely devastating and not so much the attack on the Secret Service as the fact that Trump knew that his horde was armed and unleashed them on the Capitol. He said “they are not here to hurt me” and wanted the Secret Service to let them through the mags. Trump knew they were there to hurt people like Officer Michael Fanone waited, who would be devastatingly hurt. Fanone’s injury was inevitable when Trump incited the crowd and now, Fanone wants justice. According to The Hill:

Michael Fanone, who was beaten by rioters and suffered a heart attack during the insurrection while working for the city’s Metropolitan Police Department, told CNN’s Jim Acosta on Saturday that in order to “restore the credibility of the DOJ” the country needs to return to the rule of law, which he said means that no one is above the law, including Trump.

“If there’s probable cause to suggest that he committed these crimes, which I think we’ve seen ample probable cause, he should be arrested. The case should be put before a grand jury, and if they indict him, he should be tried,” Fanone said. Fanone said he does not have “the highest of hopes” that Attorney General Merrick Garland will bring charges against Trump.

Oh, there is ample probable cause to arrest any normal person but if one is considering charging an ex-president, one needs presidential probable cause. Fortunately, Hutchinson provided it. Meadows will eventually need to provide more and the Committee has two hearings left. We believe the Committee will cover the planners and executes, Bannon, Stone, Navarro, et. al., and Trump’s co-conspirators in Congress.

The evidence will pile up to an even greater extent, to the presidential probable cause extent.
