Gavin Newsom Reveals Some Dirt About His Marriage to Kimberly Guilfoyle — And No, They Don’t Speak Any Longer

During an interview Tuesday on MSNBC, California’s Governor, Gavin Newsom brought up what he described as “the awkward conversation,” which centers around his ex-wife, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Insider reports.

Newsom, a Democrat who has been encouraging his party to become more actively aggressive against Republicans, mentioned during the interview that some of his close colleagues are Republicans and brought up Guilfoyle, a former prosecutor, and Fox News host. She now serves as an adviser to former President Donald Trump and is Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée.

Newsom and Guilfoyle’s marriage was relatively brief. The couple married in 2001 and filed for divorce in 2005, and when he was sworn in as San Francisco’s mayor in 2004 she was by his side.

It seems that after their divorce the two have gone their separate ways and haven’t kept in touch — something that MSNBC host Alex Wagner found out when he asked Newsom if he ever talks to Guilfoyle.

“Nope,” Newsom replied. “Not lately.”

“It must be weird for you,” Wagner said.

“Yeah, of course,” Newsom replied.

But he noted that during his time as governor, he had a different relationship with Trump, one that wasn’t particularly contentious.

“We had an interesting not-as-combative relationship,” he told Wagner. “Even though we went at it on a lot of issues. We also found a lot of ways to get along.”

Newsom married Janet Siebel Newsom, a documentarian, in 2008. The couple has four children.

Guilfoyle has, of course, moved on to receive even more attention as Don Jr.’s squeeze, but this has accentuated some nastier aspects of her behavior. In late August as President Joe Biden passed legislation to provide relief for student debt, she attacked college graduates as “lazy basketweavers who contribute nothing to society.”

That seems a tad hypocritical of her since she has a BA from the University of California, Davis, and a Law Degree from the University of San Francisco.

Just thought I’d mention that little aside.

I have to wonder what Newsom would make of her comments, especially since California has leaned progressively towards forgiving student loan debt and adding additional protections for struggling students.
