Lawrence O’Donnell Analyzes Trump’s Sick Need for Digital Baseball Cards, They Reveal ‘How Much He Hates What He Sees’ In the Mirror

MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell offered up extensive psychoanalysis into Donald Trump’s character after the former president’s “major announcement” turned out to be a series of limited edition digital cards, one of which shows him looking like some sort of superhero with laser beams shooting out of his eyes.

As you might expect, that “major announcement” is being mocked. Widely mocked, in fact, even though the cards are fetching hefty prices after originally being sold for $99. But besides the obvious fact that there are far too many people with too much time on their hands and too much money to spend on ridiculous things, this has a deeper meaning for O’Donnell, according to Mediaite.

For him, this is evidence that Trump feels “inadequate.” He played footage from past The Last Word segments where psychiatrists explain that Trump rejects reality and is therefore unqualified to be president.

“Somewhere inside Donald Trump, he knows what the psychiatrists are saying about him is true,” O’Donnell said.

Those Trump cards, he said, reveal exactly how much Trump “hates what he sees when he looks at himself.”

“Today Donald Trump revealed just how much he hates what he sees when he looks at himself,” O’Donnell said.

But he took that analysis a step further, focusing on Trump comparing the cards to baseball cards. He went all the way back to Trump’s childhood while trying to figure out what the true motivation behind these overpriced cards (other than say, pure greed) really is.

“When Donald Trump was in high school and was playing baseball, he no doubt dreamed, as all of us do when we’re kids playing baseball, of someday being on a baseball card, but he wasn’t good enough. And he knows he wasn’t good enough. Donald Trump knows that he doesn’t look like the fake superhero in that card that he put out today, but he is telling you very openly and very desperately how much he wishes that he looked like that.”

After focusing in on the laser eyes, O’Donnell suggested the image is a “precise measure of just how inadequate Donald Trump feels.”

And there’s obviously a steady stream of fools out there helping him keep these false pretenses. If this isn’t pathetic, then I don’t know what is.
